Background and Identification
The DeVilbiss 525 Series is a line of oxygen concentrators sold by DeVilbiss. An oxygen concentrator is a medical or industrial device that concentrates the oxygen from either ambient air or another gas supply. Oxygen concentrators selectively remove nitrogen and other gases from the air to provide an oxygen-enriched stream. The DeVilbiss 525 Series of oxygen concentrators are electrically operated.
DeVilbiss 525 Series oxygen concentrators can deliver between one-half and five liters per minute of oxygen. The concentrators produce air with 93 percent oxygen. Although oxygen concentrators filter the oxygen in the ambient air, the machine does not significantly affect the normal amount of oxygen present in the room. The machine consumes 310 Watts of power on average.
When the Oxygen Sensing Device (OSD) measures an acceptable oxygen level, the green “normal oxygen level” should be illuminated. If the oxygen concentrator begins producing air with below an 84-percent oxygen concentration, the “low oxygen” indicator will activate. At 75-percent oxygen concentration, the machine will emit an audible alarm. Below 60-percent oxygen concentration, the machine’s red “service required” light will turn on.
The DeVilbiss 525 Series oxygen concentrators are typically contained in a black plastic housing. The name “DeVilbiss Healthcare” is printed on the front of the machine.
