Background and Identification

The DeVilbiss 515A Series is a line of oxygen concentrators sold by DeVilbiss. An oxygen concentrator is a medical or industrial device that concentrates the oxygen from either ambient air or another gas supply. Oxygen concentrators selectively remove nitrogen and other gases from the air to provide an oxygen-enriched stream. The DeVilbiss 515A Series of oxygen concentrators are electrically operated. Although oxygen concentrators filter the oxygen in the ambient air, the machine does not significantly affect the normal amount of oxygen present in the room.

DeVilbiss 515A Series oxygen concentrators can deliver between one and five liters per minute of oxygen. At that rate, the machine produces air with 93-percent oxygen. On average, the oxygen concentrator consumes 385 Watts of power. The 515A series machines include oxygen sensing devices (OSDs) that monitor the oxygen levels of the air produced by the unit. When the OSD lights on the front panel are green, it indicates an acceptable oxygen level. When the OSD lights are yellow, it indicates an oxygen level that is below acceptable.

DeVilbiss 515A Series oxygen concentrators are typically contained in white or grey plastic housing. The machine’s model number is typically printed on its front face. The front face also includes an integrated flow meter, an oxygen sensing device (OSD), and an optional humidifier. The oxygen concentrator is typically sold with four caster wheels for maneuverability.
