Background and Identification

The Datex-Ohmeda Biox 3760 is a pulse oximeter made by GE’s Datex-Ohmeda division. GE Healthcare acquired Instrumentarium’s Datex-Ohmeda division in 2003. The division produces anesthesia, respiratory, and monitoring equipment. The Datex Ohmeda brand is still branded on select GE equipment. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. The Biox 3760 model provides real-time, continuous saturated oxygen and pulse rate readings.

The Biox 3760 can display saturated oxygen levels between 0 and 100 percent. Users can set limits at saturated oxygen levels of 80, 85, and 90 percent. If the patient’s saturated oxygen level falls below the set level, an audible alarm is produced.

The Biox 3760 pulse oximeter is powered by a 12-Volt lead-acid battery. The battery takes 4.5 hours to charge fully. This model can be operated with or without a compatible printer. With the printer, the pulse oximeter’s battery lasts 3.5 hours on one full charge. Without the printer, this model can last up to 7 hours on one charge. A “LOW BAT” low battery indicator appears when the model’s battery capacity is below 50%.

This pulse oximeter includes the name “Ohmeda Biox 3760 Pulse Oximeter” printed in a white font at the top of the device. The oximeter’s display is tinged a green color.
