Canon Inc. is a Japanese corporation specializing in optical, imaging, and industrial products, such as lenses, cameras, medical equipment, scanners, printers, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Canon has been manufacturing and distributing digital cameras since 1984, beginning with the RC-701. The RC series of Canon cameras was followed by the PowerShot and Digital IXUS series of digital cameras. Canon has also developed the EOS series of digital single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras, including high-end professional models.
