Background and Identification
The Bunnell Life Pulse 203 is an extremely valuable ventilator that is intended to help care for patients, mainly infants. This advanced ventilation system is developed to focus on treating premature infants that suffer from respiratory failure, which is a common complication.
This device was first established in 1980 and then become the first high-frequency ventilator to ever be approved by the United States FDA, and few other countries started using it for clinical use. This device has saved over 100,000 infants and the device is being upgraded gradually as the goal is to save as many infants with respiratory complications as possible.
The Bunnell Life Pulse is composed of five subsystems. The monitor displays the pressure of the patient and the machine. The alarms indicate serval conditions that need attention. The controls modulate the peak inspiratory pressure and the HFV breaths. The humidifier is where the temperature and humidification of gas flowing through the disposable humidifier circuit to the patient is monitored and controlled. Lastly, the patient box is where the flow of pressurized gas is broken into tiny jet pulses and sends pressure information right back to the microprocessor of the ventilator.
