Background and Identification
Braun GmbH (formerly called Braun AG), is a German consumer products company based in Kronberg, Germany. Between 1984 to 2007, Braun was a subsidiary of The Gillette Company, which had purchased a controlling interest in Braun in 1967. Procter & Gamble acquired Gillette in 2005, making Braun a wholly-owned subsidiary of Procter & Gamble. In April 2012, De’Longhi, an Italian small appliance manufacturer, bought rights to manufacture Braun branded products from Procter & Gamble in the small appliance segment, though Procter & Gamble continued to own the Braun brand.
Braun coffee makers come in a range of colors and sizes. Most Braun coffee makers produce between 2 and 12 cups of coffee at one time and require either 110-Watts or 1000-Watts of power. Some Braun coffee makers include automatic shut-off, anti-drip, and descaling warning features. Anti-drip systems allow users to pour coffee at any time during the brewing process. Some also include dishwasher safe parts. Several Braun coffee makers include water filtration systems, and some models include water-level indicators. Braun coffee makers are generally sold in black, white, stainless steel, or a combination of those colors.
Braun coffee makers feature Braun’s PureFlavor system, which is designed to brew coffee at the correct temperature and the right brewing time to optimize coffee flavor and aroma. Braun’s carafe lids are meant to seal in the coffee’s flavor by minimizing air exposure. Many Braun coffee makers also include 24-hour programmable timers that instruct the coffee maker to automatically brew coffee at a certain time.
Braun coffee makers include the name “Braun” in capital letters at the top of the coffee makers’ front face.
