Background and Identification
The Black and Decker Air Station is a 160 psi air compressor that is designed to inflate a range of household items. It can be used to inflate car, bike, and lawnmower tires, air mattresses, rafts, and inflatable pool toys. The air station is sold with a standard nozzle, needle inflator, and extension nozzle.
An air compressor is a pneumatic device that converts power into potential energy stored in pressurized or compressed air. The Black and Decker Air Station includes a power cord that can be plugged into a power outlet, so electrical power is converted to potential energy. The air compressor forces air into a storage tank, increasing the tank’s pressure. When an air compressor reaches its upper-pressure limit, the compressor shuts off. The compressed air is held in the tank until it is used. When the tank pressure reaches its lower limit, the compressor turns on, again and repressurizes the tank.
The Black and Decker Air Station has a mostly orange plastic body. The name “Black&Decker” is printed in bold white letters on the side of the device on a black sticker. The name “AirStation” is printed in grey font on the same black sticker. A pressure gauge is integrated into the front face of the device.
