Background and Identification

Created by Dr. Forest M. Bird in 1957 and manufactured by Bird Products Corporation, the Bird Mark Series Ventilator is mainly used for assisting with pulmonary ventilation for medical patients who have respiratory issues. The Bird Mark Series Respirators are pneumatically powered pressure cycled devices and allow for the flow to be adjusted when being used for the delivery of IPPB therapy. This ventilator augments lung expansion and can also be used to help administer aerosol medication to medical patients.

The Bird Mark Series ventilators can be distinguished from other ventilators as it has a translucent green housing with the name, model, and brand of the device printed in big bold white letters in the top left of the front of the ventilator, above the big round pressure gauge.

Only trained medical professionals may operate and/or repair this device.
