Palace Quest

Princess imprisoned in her cell

The Palace Quest is started by killing a Vizier in the Palace. During the quest, no treasures will be spawned in the Palace. A mouse is spawned that the player must follow until the prison cell is reached where the Princess is imprisoned. Then the player must find the pressure plate that opens the prison door: this is usually located on the far side of the cell, and will require some degree of proficiency in navigating the game's hyperbolic geometry (as well as a lot of patience and persistence!) to reach.

Letting the Princess out is not the end of the quest, however. The rescue is not considered complete until the player successfully leads the Princess out of the Palace into another land alive. Generally, this can be done by moving away from the Princess' cell in any direction until Hypersian Rugs start appearing again, and then finding a Great Wall that leads to another land.

In the meantime, if the Princess is allowed to kill a stunned Palace Guard, she will arm herself with his sword and become an ally who fights alongside the player, like a golem except with HP. Her maximum HP is determined by the number of Hypersian Rugs the player collected. If the player succeeds in bringing the Princess out of the Palace, Orbs of Love will begin appearing in the Crossroads, which can teleport the Princess to the player's side if she got left behind somehow, and replenish her HP when its charges run out. It will also revive the Princess if she got killed, but only after the player has collected another 20 treasures.
