Way of the Toxic Palm (5e Subclass)

Way of the Toxic Palm

Monk

The kindness, grace, wisdom and purely zen nature of the archetypal monk is well known and appreciated, but what happens when a Monk is slightly more... Toxic? A monk that studies under the way of the Toxic Palm usually has some deep seated anger and rage, or an event of their past has scarred them, has sliced and poisoned their very soul, causing their ki to reflect this. They require the proper training afterwards, lest their ki literally poisons them.

Toxic physiology

When taking this sub-archetype at level 3, you can exude venom from your pores with a bonus action and 1 ki point. If someone attempts to grab or hit or otherwise initiate skin to skin contact, you can force them to make a constitution saving throw or become poisoned.

Spider Strike

When you first choose this sub-archetype at level 3, you gain the ability to supercharge your bare fists with your own Toxic ki. By expending a single ki point, you can turn all of your unarmed strikes venomous for the round. You add a d4 of poison damage to your unarmed strikes. The dice increase when your unarmed strike increases (IE, d6 at 5th level, d8 at 11th level etc). On top of that, you have resistance to poison damage, and advantage on constitution saving throws to stave off becoming poisoned.

Tarantula Strike

At 6th level, you gain the ability to amp up your weapons as well. Like the Kinsei Monk, you are capable of channeling your ki into your weapons, giving them a smell similar to chlorine, and a sort of pungent smoke rises from the weapons as if they've been dipped in acid. You are capable of expending 2 ki points to add your level of dice roll to your monk weapon strikes as well as your unarmed attacks.

Cobra Bile

At 11th level, you have gained incredible control over the bile that is your ki. By expending 4 ki points, you are capable of vomiting the venom in your stomach and firing it as a projectile. Make a ranged attack roll using dexterity. You are proficient in this attack, range 40/120. The damage die increases when your unarmed strike damage increases by dice type.

Toxic Soul

At 17th level, you have mastered the bile in your lungs. As such, you have mastered your ability to counter poisons, making you entirely immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition. On top of that, your powers over the destructive elements of the world grant you resistance against acid or necrotic damage, your choice. Also, your power allows you to purge your body of the bile within it, pouring a tidal wave of noxious ooze from your lips. This attack acts as the 4th level spell "Tidal Wave" while adding a constitution save against your save DC. On a fail, they take 4d6 poison damage, and are poisoned. This requires 8 ki points to be used.
