Way of the Mystic (5e Subclass)
Way of the Mystic
This subclass is a reimagining of the entire Mystic class concept, but in a Monk subclass. Thus, if the Mystic class ever returns in earnest, this page might become obsolete, which may cause me to delete it for copyright reasons. Until then, you can use the lore and quirks of the UA Mystic to enhance this subclass and use it instead. Of course, condensing the power of the most OP class in 5e into a balanced subclass is a ludicrous idea, so this prototype may be unbalanced as of yet.
- Noosphere Attunement
- When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to tap into the collective knowledge possessed by all of life itself. Whenever you finish a long rest, choose one skill or tool. You have proficiency with the chosen skill or tool until the end of your next long rest.
- Telepathy
- Starting at 3rd level, your mind awakens, giving you the ability to speak directly into another creature's mind. You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. You don't need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your messages, but it must know at least one language or also be capable of telepathy.
- Mystic Mind
- By the time you reach 6th level, you have mastered the inner mind enough to expand it's power outwards, changing reality around you. Choose two spells of 3rd level or lower from the Wizard spell list. You learn these spells and can cast them by spending an amount of Ki points equal to 1 + the spell's level. You cannot cast such spells at a higher level this way, and you require no components to cast them. If any of these spells require the targets to make a saving throw, use your Ki save DC. If any of these spells require an attack roll, your attack bonus for them is your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus.
- Crafter's Creation
- Starting at 11th level, your mental prowess has allowed you to warp reality and bring nonexistent items into being. As an action, you can spend 6 Ki points to cast the creation spell. When you cast the spell this way, you require no components to cast it, and the school of magic is Conjuration instead of Illusion, as you will the item into being with your imagination. The shadowy wisps of the Creation spell can thus be replaced with any harmless sensory effect of your choice which briefly envelopes you or the item as you make it, as the item bursts forth from your mind instead of the Shadowfell.
- Crafter's Reality
- Beginning at 17th level, you've mastered the art of forging your thoughts into reality. When you use the Crafter's Creation feature to cast the creation spell, you can cast it at higher levels by spending 1 additional Ki point for every level of the spell above the 5th. In addition, you can create multiple items with the spell, as long as all of them fit within the spell's cube. Finally, you can choose to make objects you create with the spell exist permanently. Objects made to last permanently this way can't be dispelled, as they're effectively real mundane objects.

gollark: Because if moderators say so, clearly evil.
gollark: Because it's clearly EVIL.
gollark: Probably this place is less so than the forums!
gollark: Yes, good idea.
gollark: I prefer programming language but whatever.
