Way of the Ligntning (5e Subclass)
Way of the Lightning and Thunder
Monk Subclass
Monks of the Way of the Lightning and Thunder have dedicated their lives to the mastery of harnessing the energy that flows through all things and guiding to their purpose.
- Thunder Shock Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your enemy's ki when you harness your own. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:
• It must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.
• It can't take reactions until the end of your next turn
- Thunder Punch
When you hit a target with a monk weapon, you can spend 1 ki point to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die as lightning damage. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
- Healing Pulse
At 6th level, you gain the ability to heal yourself. As an action, you can regain hit points equal to three times your monk level. You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again.
- Thunder Strike
At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into searing waves of energy. Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki points to cast the Thunder wave spell as an action. You can spend additional ki points to cast Thunderwave as a higher level spell. Each additional ki point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level. You need to finish a short/long rest before you can use this feature again.
- Spark of Life
Beginning at 11th level, you use your control over ki to impede death. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can expend 1 ki point (no action required) to have 1 hit point instead.
- Plasma Shield
At 17th level, your body becomes wreathed in dancing, crackling electricity. You shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. You can extinguish or restore the light as a bonus action.
If a creature hits you with a melee attack while this light shines, you can use your reaction to deal lightning or thunder damage to the creature. The lightning or thunder damage equals 5 + your Wisdom modifier.
