Way of the Elements, 2nd Variant (5e Subclass)

Way of the Elements Variant

You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the elements. When you focus your ki, you can align yourself with the forces of creation and bend the four elements to your will, using them as an extension of your body. Many monks of this tradition tattoo their bodies with representations of their ki powers, commonly imagined as coiling dragons, but also as phoenixes, fish, plants, mountains, and cresting waves.

Some members of this tradition dedicate themselves to a single element, but others weave the elements together.
Spellcasting

At the 3rd Level, you develop a technique for casting elemental spells.

Cantrips. You learn 2 cantrips from the Elementalist spell list. You learn more as you level up, as shown on the table below.

Spell Slots. You regain your Elementalist Spell Slots after completing a Long Rest.

Spells Known. When you take a long rest, you may replace a spell with another from the Elementalist list, as long as you have spell slots for it.

Converting a Spell Slot to Ki. As a bonus action on your turn, you can expend one spell slot and gain an amount of ki equal to the slot’s level.

Elemental Strikes

At level 6, you may expend a spell slot when you hit with a monk weapon or an unarmed attack, dealing an additional amount of damage (fire, cold, bludgeoning, lightning, or thunder) equal to 1d8 + 1d8 per spell slot expended (maximum 4th level spell slot). Such attacks are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance and immunity.

Harmonious Elementalist

At level 11, you may add your Wisdom modifier to the damage of you elementalist cantrips and spells.

Elemental Master

At level 17, you learn one 6th level spell from the elementalist spell list. You may cast it for 7 ki points. You must complete a long rest to use this feature again.
