Ward of Amaras (5e Subclass)

Ward of Amaras

While some rangers swear to protect nature at all costs, others choose the opposite path. These rangers choose to trust nature in all of her processes, including revitalization through destruction and seek to refresh the world anew by rendering the current world desolate. These rangers hone skills of necromancy and decay to bring about their dream of a new world.

Amaran Initiate

At 3rd level, you gain access to the following spells in addition to all normal Ranger spells: False Life, Gentle Repose, Ray of Enfeeblement, Blindness/Deafness, Animate Dead, Bestow Curse, and Blight. You must have a spell slot available of the appropriate level to learn one of these spells. Additionally, you learn the Chill Touch cantrip.

Lingering Necrosis Having delved into the necromantic arts, you have learned to imbue your weapons with a vampiric magic, siphoning their life to bolster your own. At 3rd level, you may add 1d6 necrotic damage to any attack damage, and regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt. You may use this ability once per long rest. The number of times you may use this increases to twice at 7th level, three times at 11th level and four times at 15th level. The necrotic damage increases to 2d6 at 7th level, 3d6 at 11th level, and 4d6 at 15th level.

Amaran Adept

At 7th level, you are able to channel strong levels of negative energy. This manifests in your ability to cast Circle of Death once per day, as per the spell.

Septic Aura At 11th level, the level of decay surrounding the ranger is tangible in the form of poisonous spores floating around him. Any creature within a 10-foot radius must make a Constitution save against the ranger's spell DC or be poisoned. The ranger may also take one hour to create an antidote to these spores. One dose of this antidote inoculates one person against the poisonous aura for one week. (DM Note: The antidote is optional. It was included to balance for party play.)

Virtuoso of Amaras At 11th level, a Ward of Amaras gains the ability to cast the Finger of Death spell once per long rest. In addition to the normal effects of the spell, a Ward of Amaras regains half the necrotic damage dealt as temporary hit points.

Master of Amaras At 15th level, a Ward of Amaras gains the ability to cast Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting (EE p.15) once per long rest. In addition to the normal effects of the spell, a Ward of Amaras regains half the necrotic damage dealt as temporary hit points.
