Class Features

The abilities of a Wandering Wolf focus on striking from a flanking position and tracking down foes. All of the following are class features of the Wandering Wolf.

Sneak Attack: Wandering wolves are dangerous flankers. they gain sneak attack, as the rouge ability.

Scent (Ex): you can now track by scent, like a wolf or gnoll. If you alreaady have this class feature granted for another class instead you can choose a feat from the fighter list.

Wolf's Defense (Ex): You may add your Wisdom modifier (if any) to your AC and your animal companion as long as you wear light or no armor and light or no sheild.. you lose this bonus any time you are denied your Dexterity bonus to AC. if you benefit from uncanny dodge, it applies to this bonus, too.

Wild Empathy (Wolf) (Ex): As the ranger ability, but only towards wolves. if you already have wild empathy, you gain a +4 bonus towards wolves.

Evasion/Dodge: you gain either evasion or dodge. if you qualified for this class with dodge, you gain evasion, and vice versa. you do not recieve improved evasion if you already have both dodge and evasion. you lose evasion if you are wearing armor heavier than light armor or a heavy sheild

Improved Flanking: you gain a +1 to hit creatures you flank.

Animal Companion (Wolf) (Ex): you gain a wolf as an animal companion. if your campaign is bases in an area that wolves are not native to, you can chose a similar, more appropriate animal (i.e. jackal, dog). This class counts for the purposes of calculating the effective level of your animal companion.

Mettle (Ex):Similar to evasion, but only against magical effects that allow a save for half effect, for fortitude and will.

Vicious Trip (Ex): any weapon you wield is considered a tripping weapon. you gain a +2 to damage rolls on the attack you make after you trip (from the improved trip feat)

Pounce (Ex): you may make a full attack when you charge a flat-footed foe. also, this ability discription includes alliteration.

Improved evasion (Ex): as the rouge ability, but it still functions when you wield a shield.

Playing a Wandering Wolf

Combat: You are a mobile front line fighter. you are strongest when flanking a foe, so teaming up with a combat-oriented rouge or a fighter greatly assists your damage-dealing potential. at later levels, your animal companion can help you in such a way. also, many Wandering Wolves like to trip their foes before they take them out.

Advancement: After completing all 10 levels, many wandering wolves continue as rangers or rouges, to improve their flanking and tracking abilities, respectively.

Resources: Wandering Wolves don't usually form guilds or companies. however, many are part of expedition teams or work as a tracker for hire.

Im on the hunt, im after you... and I'm hungry like the wolf!

They track professionally or are hunters. there's not a lot else to say.

NPC Reactions: NPCs may hire a wandering wolf as a tracker. people don't usually think any different of wandering wolves than any other person, unless they're afraid of their wolf companion. in which case, they run away.

gollark: As far as I know it is a mildly faster alternative to fully rebooting for kernel updates.
gollark: Nobody really uses the EV ones any more and I don't think there's UI for them, so basically no change.
gollark: Apparently Nvidia is working on actually implementing GBM or whatever thing it was they needed for Wayland support but didn't have.
gollark: I modified my LXDE configuration file to call a program in the repos called `light`, which I made a suid thing.
gollark: I have no idea why but I never encountered any backlight issues, using the normal Intel iGPU backlight stuff works perfectly.
