Vikings

Personality

Very barbaric and warlike the vikings enjoy pillaging, drinking, and fighting. They also make many trading exploits and their seamanship is legendary.

Physical Description

Bigger and stouter than most humans, vikings flex their muscles and might around their smaller human brethren. Wavy locks of flaxen or copper hair grow long and strong, though darker shades of hair are not uncommon. Their eyes are often a bright blue or green, but can be of any human color. Their skin is often fair, but tans well in the hotter summer months from many days working in the sun.

Relations

They tend to get along well with dwarves, who share their love of drink and beards, and half orcs, who share their love of battle, better than they do with humans. Elves find them crude and barbaric because, in truth, they are. However, elves put up with them if necessary, and a viking loves to taunt and insult an elf, at least until he has seen his prowess in battle. Vikings are quick to make friends, and quick to make enemies, plundering those peoples who think and treat ill of them.

Alignment

Usually chaotic neutral. Vikings are carefree, doing what they please, when they please to do it, damning the consequences and living in the moment.

Lands

They live in the north but they are seen almost every where because of their merchant tendencies. Vikings form small villages along the coast, typically in bays and sheltered areas where they can ranch sheep, fish, plant crops and raise their families. The men often leave home for long periods of time either on merchant vessels or raiding fleets, traveling hundreds, if not thousands of miles along the coast for other places to either trade with or plunder from.

Vikings are taught from a young age to be strong and to train and revere self reliance, but it is the men that benefit the most from this way of life, as often the women are left alone with children to care for and farms to tend.

Religion

Vikings are devout worshippers of many deities and mainly worshippers of pagan gods even though some have converted to other religions, taking readily to those gods in place of gods such as Odin, Thor, or Loki.

Language

Common and Nordic. Nordic was a trade pidgin of Draconic, Dwarven, and Giant. It uses a modified version of the Dwarven alphabet.
