Discord

I don't know if this is the right position to ask this, But It seems that I got banned from the DandDWiki Discord only moments after I joined the server. I only
asked if someone could help me with the final ability of a subclass I wrote, now I know one admin on the server (Possibly 2) and have disagreed with him in the
past. But I have not done anything on this server to be banned. Could you possibly get me back in the server? Thanks in advance, --RedHawk007 (talk) 09:44, 23 May 2018 (MDT)

Potion of Temeris

Is it possible for a potion to grant the ability to Teleport(1 time) to a spellcaster? --209.97.85.48 18:26, 20 December 2017 (MST)

OGC legendary actions issue

Hey GamerAim! There still seems to be an issue with the legendary actions for OGC creature pages not loading properly. See link below for an example:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/OGC:Nihileth_(5e_Creature) --Clockwerk66 (talk) 13:04, 28 December 2017 (MST)

I'm not sure I understand. They look fine to me? Can you explain what's wrong with them? :) Maybe I'm missing it.--GamerAim (talk) 14:34, 28 December 2017 (MST)
If you look at the Legendary actions section, none of the actual actions are displaying at all. --Clockwerk66 (talk) 14:58, 28 December 2017 (MST)
Oh, yeah. They should display now. I don't really like the way the actions aren't displayed in the same column Legendary Actions header, but that looks to be part of the template I didn't write, so I assume it's correct.--GamerAim (talk) 09:37, 29 December 2017 (MST)

Stop touching my shit and trying to make it how you feel it should be. Its designed that way, so deal with it.

I would appreciate if you would quite screwing around with my Homebrew makes. For example, the shoulder mounted railgun. This is my weapon design. Don't change it. Don't change anymore of my stuff. You can give opinions, but do not touch it otherwise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xslasher112 (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.

I will take your advice and "deal with it." Consider it dealt with :) --GamerAim (talk) 13:50, 14 January 2018 (MST)

Magical Weapons

I have an idea for a weapon in my head but I can't get from the concept stage to the final product. The weapon is called Dementia weapon. I want it to cause Confusion in the one attacked but mechanics of it isn't coming to me. Please help. --209.97.85.48 14:00, 17 February 2018 (MST)

Dementia weapon? Not a happy thought!!! --Redrum 18:40, 7 March 2018 (MST)

Block Log

I noticed that you blocked SgtLion yesterday. While you may have been in contact with him, I have to ask you to please not use any administrative functions without a valid reason. We do not want to confuse users, and disregard our own policies. Thanks for your understanding. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:56, 12 March 2018 (MDT)

SgtLion blocked himself; GA actually unblocked him. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 23:58, 12 March 2018 (MDT)
Oh true. Why did he not just unblock himself? No worries, I just assumed the worst. --Green Dragon (talk) 00:47, 13 March 2018 (MDT)
Hehe. Sorry for any confusion; I was trying to work out what blocked users actually see. Turns out admins can't unblock themselves when they're blocked. --SgtLion (talk) 02:45, 13 March 2018 (MDT)
I am fairly certain that I can unblock myself. Maybe it is because I am a bureaucrat too, but I doubt that based on the user group rights. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:49, 13 March 2018 (MDT)
Hehe, it's cool :P I can understand why it'd have raised some flags, so thanks for the attentiveness! :) --GamerAim (talk) 15:21, 13 March 2018 (MDT)
Don't make me block myself again just to prove it! --SgtLion (talk) 02:56, 15 March 2018 (MDT)
Is this a bureaucrat lovefest? --209.97.85.48 18:23, 21 March 2018 (MDT)

Good Job

Barnstar
I give you this barnstar for your willingness to always help other users, for the massive amount of work you have put into transcribing and fixing 3e SRD, and overall for being an awesome person. Thanks for being a great admin for D&D Wiki!--Blobby383b (talk) 16:33, 14 March 2018 (MDT)

Hello Fellow

Hi GamerAim its Cotsu Malcior. Sorry I haven't been on the discord server, I do most of my editing while I am at work and my work computer does not support discord. Also is there any way you could protect or help me protect my Deathslinger (5e Class) class because it keeps being editied by anon users to make it way more powerful than it is and I feel like its very well balanced as it is. Thanks and the three amigos shall live forever.

Currency Exchange

Do you remember those days when you said that I couldn't find the conversion rates between D&D money and other forms of currency? Well, guess what? I did! --Calibri (talk) 15:56, 5 June 2018 (MDT)

Calibri, we do not need another Bitcoin!!! --Redrum 18:22, 6 June 2018 (MDT)

Just Thinking About Stuff

Hey GamerAim its Cotsu and I have been playing with the idea of trying to be more active and helpful on the wiki. I create a fair amount of content and try to keep other works to code as best I can but I guess what I'm really asking is do you think I should try to become an administrator? I'm not saying right this second or even the near future, I was just wondering if you thought I could do anymore good their or if I should just stay where I'm at. I value your opinion highly so please be honest in your response. Thank you for the consideration/advice!--Cotsu Malcior (talk) 10:44, 27 May 2018 (MDT)

I think that you'd be a fine admin, but I also think of adminship a bit differently than everyone else. I don't really see it as another tier of membership, something special to be aspired to. I see it more like taking on responsibilities to perform tasks that non-admins cannot perform, like dealing with errant user behavior, protecting pages, etc. Ideally, it is an extension of what you already do or would like to do.
So I think you should look at the questions asked in every RfA. You should think carefully about each answer. What duties would you perform? For me, it allowed me to easily fix issues in the 3.5e SRD and MSRD, as well as protect pages in the OGC namespace. This made me more productive in an area of the wiki that few people ventured into. If you think that the answer to these questions would make you a more productive member of the D&D Wiki community, then great! I certainly trust you to do it :) It just comes down to making sure that you are ready for the responsibilities of civil servitude!--GamerAim (talk) 08:27, 30 May 2018 (MDT)

I think I'm gonna do it. I mean worst thing that happens is I don't pass lol. Thx for the pep talk :3 --Cotsu Malcior (talk) 15:02, 30 May 2018 (MDT)

Now I don't want to be an admin. --Calibri (talk) 15:57, 5 June 2018 (MDT)

appology

sorry about that I over reacted.

Reverting edits & explanation of edits

If we could not start edit wars over an issue as petty as confusing {{Wording}} with {{Wikify}} (or vice versa), I would appreciate that. The only explicit justification I've so far found for these reverted edits was here, which is not the best place for it. If it is necessary to (repeatedly) undo others' edits, an explanation for the rationale behind this action is usually warranted. Using the most relevant talk page is ideal, but if that seems excessive please spare at least a few keystokes for the edit summary. Without context, some users might reasonably fear these actions are taken not in good faith. - Guy 08:02, 22 September 2018 (MDT)

I immediately informed ConcealedLight about it after I reverted his edits. Sadly, rolling back does not allow for an edit summary :( I hope that clarifies things!--GamerAim (talk) 08:09, 22 September 2018 (MDT)
If you're only undoing one edit, which as far as I can see is what you've been doing, you can still provide an edit summary. Just hit "undo" instead of "rollback."
As you presumably know, you go back in the history tab and edit a page from 10+ revisions ago. E.g., "Warning: You are editing an out-of-date revision of this page." Editing in this way accomplishes the same thing as a rollback, but unlike a rollback you can still add an edit summary. (I've this myself numerous times, long before I had the admin power of "rolling back" edits.) It's always worth letting a potentially concerned party know what's going on, but especially with how things have been going lately. - Guy 08:26, 22 September 2018 (MDT)
Edit summaries are a bit vital in the current climate. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:35, 22 September 2018 (MDT)
That is more time-consuming, but there's little harm in me doing it, so I will relent :) --GamerAim (talk) 09:19, 22 September 2018 (MDT)

Commendation

Lionring
For being more respectful than many other admins, then remaining calm in the face of unjustified response. I give you this ring, such it may bring you some energy, comfort, and joy even for but a moment. --SgtLion (talk) 13:03, 25 September 2018 (MDT)
For respectfully overcoming your pride to leave a user alone as soon as it was even slightly indicated to you that they didn't want to interact (no matter how many witty passive aggressive remarks you surely had prepared :P) and for holding a calm and reasonable front under the weathering fun that is a group of admins arbitrarily declaring that you're somehow in the wrong with apparently no actual evidence, I gift ye a Lionring. I would've flipped my lid by now in your position.
I very much care about you. Here's hoping we might get to a calm, enjoyable community state we can all enjoy again. Plus it's about time I gave you a ring too~ --SgtLion (talk) 13:03, 25 September 2018 (MDT)
Thank you, comrade~--GamerAim (talk) 16:31, 25 September 2018 (MDT)

Consensus or Not

GamerAim, Regardless of the outcome of your Adminship; I will gladly work with ALL Admins to find a reasonable and policy appropriate solution. It is not and was never my intention to be the catalyst for revoking your Admin Status as I am a regular user; but no longer a contributor due to the GNU. As a small time publisher and moderator for the Paizo Forums. I would suggest that Admins keep the Wiki discussions transparent for all the see as it build trust and helps prevent misunderstandings that are so problematic with any Social Media. That does not mean discussions on Discord are inappropriate; but that discussions and decisions pertaining to major issues related to the Wiki should be added to a D&D Discord Consensus Page once the discussion is complete and an the admins reach a consensus. As I believe that you are the owner of the Discord channel; I see that as your responsibility and believe that it will improve your personal image significantly. -- Kildairem 14:26, 2 October 2018 (PST)

I agree with you that issues of D&D Wiki policy should not be discussed on Discord. I'm not sure if that was explicitly disallowed in the server rules, but I've added it now just to be sure. Again, users should not be doing this, and I apologize for any time it was done :( --GamerAim (talk) 15:46, 2 October 2018 (MDT)
BTW, I'm actually glad you approached me because a) it helps to mend fences, and b) I wanted to bring up some possible solutions. You said you asked for your content to be removed once before? Could you find that link somewhere? Either way, would you be open to a compromise where we lock the articles so non-admins can't edit them and put up a template informing uses that it's not released under the GNUFDL v1.3? I can't promise that we can do this, but there's some precedent for this sort of thing, so if you're up for it, we can propose it to the other admins and see what they think? As an RPG writer myself, I'm personally into working with you and apologize if we came off on the wrong foot; it was never anything against you, Guy or Geodude :) --GamerAim (talk) 16:15, 2 October 2018 (MDT)
Also, to be clear, what happened wasn't your fault. If other people used you as an excuse, don't blame yourself! We're all good, as far as I'm concerned :) Moving on, there's currently a discussion regarding the validity of deleting your campaign setting. It's only an issue because doing so conflicts with a long-standing policy that newer admins weren't informed of and the rules for it are a bit unclear, so it might end up getting changed. If GD ends up clearing the deletion and you still want that option, I promise to personally see to it myself if no one does it first!--GamerAim (talk) 16:53, 2 October 2018 (MDT)
GamerAim, Is it possible to talk to you via Facebook Messenger, if you search my name it should be easy to find my account, as I am considering changing my opposition to your Adminship. I have come to the conclusion that necessary or not, the whole RFA has been a train wreck and the format of RFA’s should be significantly changed as it should not be used to attack any user or Admin. From my impression you are being attacked on the RFA and allowing it to continue violates the values of the D&Dwiki community. -- Kildairem 23:25, 7 October 2018 (PST)
Alas, I am not on Facebook :( I'm on Discord (as you no doubt know) and email (gameraim@dandwiki.com), however.--GamerAim (talk) 05:10, 8 October 2018 (MDT)
Update: I did try to make a Facebook account, but it required a mobile number, and I'm not comfortable handing over my number to Facebook.--GamerAim (talk) 05:22, 8 October 2018 (MDT)
GamerAim, that is the same reason I refuse to use Discord as it is easily hacked with a wide host of freeware tools. As I requested elsewhere can you inform those with the authority to do so to remove my opposition vote and add my vote for support. -- Kildairem 08:18, 8 October 2018 (PST)
Strictly speaking, you don't need to register for Discord to PM me. You could just friend me if I gave you my public user id. Alternatively, to join the D&D Wiki discord server to contact me, you could use your free D&D Wiki email address. No phone required. Also, your vote was corrected by the friendly SgtLion :) --GamerAim (talk) 10:24, 8 October 2018 (MDT)

My Honest Opinion?

Hi GamerAim! It's me, Quincy. You asked me what I thought you did wrong, so here I am.

First, I think you still need some work on how you communicate and how you generally conduct yourself. I agree with others who have said that you sometimes come across as passive-aggressive and belittling. You've gotten noticeably better about this since the RFA, and that's great. But there's still room for you to improve.

Second of all, and this is my major grievance, I dislike your ties to the discord. I don't mind what you do there, provided that what happens off this website stays off this website, like it should. But, as the recent RfA showed, this is clearly not the case. As someone who doesn't care for the Discord server, I would rather not have what happens elsewhere affect my community. I'm not so sure I can trust you to not bring any baggage from social media drama onto D&D wiki, and neither can I know that any administrative decisions you might make aren't motivated by some sort of conflict of interest hidden behind closed doors. Quincy (talk) 14:35, 12 October 2018 (MDT)

Thanks for replying! I apologize of my communication was not as great as it could have been during some spans. I do normally strive for good communication, as you can see by me reaching out to you. Again, I really appreciate you getting back to me :) As well, I know I can be terse, but that's strictly out of an effort to limit emotion, bias or wordiness. I do not intend to belittle or disregard your thoughts and opinions. I respect them, but try to stick to my point so as to not waste your time. Hopefully I haven't offended you and will move on:
I have been one of the biggest advocates - along with SgtLion - for limiting cross-contamination between Discord and D&D Wiki. I have not, to my recollection, brought any baggage from social media onto D&D Wiki. If anything, my Request for Adminship is other users doing so. I have a long-standing policy one which is enforced as policy on the Discord server to not deliberate D&D Wiki policy on Discord. Another policy, supported by other administrators, is that conduct on Discord cannot be held accountable on D&D Wiki itself. I have done my best to keep the two separate, but as I said, other users unfortunately want to bring the drama over to here and deliberate behind closed doors, while I have always advocated for transparency, especially with regards to the administration.
So, again, I have done my best to keep the two separate and not base any D&D Wiki administrative decision based on Discord. I did recently start a discussion on limiting administrative powers, mostly centered on perceived issues with some decisions I've made recently. In truth, I make few administrative decisions over all; mostly I deliberate policy, work on the 3e SRD and sometimes do odd-jobs if I'm directed to them. Very few complaints made against me on my RfA involved abuse of administration powers on D&D Wiki. Of those 3 users (excluding you), only one was ever sanctioned by me on D&D Wiki, which I did twice based on conduct referenced on D&D Wiki itself. That was ConcealedLight, who I have only rarely argued with on Discord, and then only about Discord server policy as far as I can recall. And, even then, any arguments we did have were from months ago and all were resolved.
I hope that helps to allay any issues you have with my conduct. If not, I understand! If you have any more questions, complaints or anything else that you'd like me to address, let me know :) --GamerAim (talk) 15:18, 12 October 2018 (MDT)

Adminship

So I've done a lot of reading on the request for adminship page and I've come to the conclusion that you and every user on this site is human and sence we are human we act on impulse and feeling and maybe you did push the boundaries of being an admin but who hasn't I'm also for second chances with a promise to do better so I opinion is that you stay on as an admin but that's just me Alucarddragonborn (talk) 08:43, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

Thank you for the kind words :) If you'd like to vote on the RfA itself, let me know and I can help you get it posted; I know the page is long and confusing at this point :( If not, that's fine too! Just lemme know if you need anything \o/ --GamerAim (talk) 09:44, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

That will be good to vote I'll stand by you and I do need help I want to learn how to create a table like how to edit one but Im haveing a tough time with it you can find it in the Vampyre Knight thanks. Alucarddragonborn (talk) 15:12, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

No problem; I've helped many users out with tables before :) I added one on that page for the D100 table. If you needed it for something else, let me know or use the one I added as a reference :) --GamerAim (talk) 15:20, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

Thanks 100 I recently just been copy and pasting umm tell you what if you scroll down on the Vampyre Knight you will see a spell table for one of the subclass I'm going to make the 3 others but leave the spells with a star on them then you my friend can turn the spells into a table thank you again.Alucarddragonborn (talk) 15:52, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

I'm afraid I don't see what's supposed to be turned into a table. Everything looks correctly formatted to me.--GamerAim (talk) 17:03, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

I was talking about the new spells that I'm going to add it's kinda like the paladin when he gets new oath spells it will be awhile but I'll get it done. Alucarddragonborn (talk) 18:04, 14 October 2018 (MDT)

Kudos

Just because the battle was long and diverse does not mean there's no cause for celebration. Congrats on remaining an Admin and one the users that is "The Face" of the website. I hope you take some time to relax and stop worrying about the event. Cheers! BigShotFancyMan (talk) 12:14, 16 October 2018 (MDT)

Thank you, BSFM. I might take a break for a bit, to relax and reflect on all that's happened so I can return energized and with a renewed perspective. Thankfully, I know there are administrators like to you ensure that "the spirit of GamerAim" continues in my (short) absence :) --GamerAim (talk) 12:22, 16 October 2018 (MDT)
Congrats. I opposed your nomination but I'm not going to be mad about it, nor is that going to stop me from wishing you your best. Have a glorious day. Quincy (talk) 15:37, 16 October 2018 (MDT)
Thank you, Quincy. It was a pleasure talking with you, what little we did :) --GamerAim (talk) 15:43, 16 October 2018 (MDT)

Yes kudos you are still an admin I was rooting for you glad you get to stay on as admin. Alucarddragonborn (talk) 18:45, 16 October 2018 (MDT)

blockage question

I have 1 small question. Does getting blocked prevent you from printing stuff off the site? --Redrum 17:22, 31 October 2018 (MDT)

Not to my knowledge. As long as you can view the page, you should be able to print it :) --GamerAim (talk) 17:25, 31 October 2018 (MDT)

I have a problem I made a vampire 5e class long time ago and when I first made it of course I had stubs and everything so then I redid it I will say the redone version and I took a couple weeks off the wiki don't know why you stopped going but when I came back I looked in the my vampire 5e class and it got changed it was changed to the old version of it the name of the one with stubs and everything and then I looked at my Vampire Knight class and it got it would say it's now the redone version of it so the redone version got back to its old version and the Vampire Knight is the redone version that makes any sense and Vampire Knight is gone so I was wondering if you can help me out that thank you alucard dragonborn

Warning

I am warning you for your use of verbal abuse and profanity with regards to your recent edit. --Green Dragon (talk) 22:20, 3 December 2018 (MST)

I don't think this warning is appropriate. As far as I know, profanity is allowed on user pages. And as the words aren't being said at anyone, saying a vague group people are behaving badly hardly amounts to 'verbal abuse'. --SgtLion (talk) 07:21, 4 December 2018 (MST)
See my reply here. --Green Dragon (talk) 08:53, 4 December 2018 (MST)

Experiment 78

Has anyone thought of a mind switching carpet?--Redrum 13:44, 15 December 2018 (MST)

gollark: The Ringworld ringworld actually has some handwavey way to induce solar flares for maneuvering, as well as a bunch of Bussard ramjet-ish engines.
gollark: Inasmuch as any big thing which harvests power from stars is, yes.
gollark: It also isn't stable wrt. the star, so you'll need a way to move the ring around to keep the star in the middle.
gollark: There's no day-night cycle, which you might find unpleasant. This can be solved by having a smaller inner ring which is only half filled in and doesn't spin. You can also stick solar panels on there for free power.
gollark: You'd shove land and ecosystems and whatever onto it and then live there with several million times the land area of Earth.
