Personality

Ulysses comes off as simple and naive on account of both her low natural intelligence and her cloistered upbringing. Her knowledge of the outside world comes mostly from romanticized tales of the exploits of knights read in books in the library. However, because of this, she is also kind and courteous and chivalrous. She is eager and ambitious, but naturally wise and well-disciplined from her background.

Faith
Saint Ulysses, Patron Saint of Romantics, Lovers and Chivalric Knights
Traits
  • I am excited – perhaps naively – by castles, tournaments, and other romanticized aspects of knightly culture.
  • I seek to honor myself with glorious battles, or at least dream about doing so.
Ideals
  • Chivalry. I respect the knightly code of conduct of bravery, honesty, generosity, and defending the weak. (Good)
Bonds
  • I am still in a close relationship with my master/mistress, although he/she is not what they once were.
Flaws
  • I easily fall for any attractive prince or princess that I see, regardless of any rules or tradition.
  • My knowledge of the outside world is based mostly off of romantic novels and tales of chivalry, of which I read too much.

Backstory

Left as an infant at the steps of the Hall of the Knights of Saint Ulysses, Ulysses was named after the Patron Saint of Romantics, Lovers and Chivalric Knights, and raised by the Knight-Champion of the Hall of the Knights of Saint Ulysses in Thunder Rift, Lord Thondir Repennan. Performing general household duties around the Hall as a child, Ulysses was also instructed in the ways of the priest until the age of 15, when after being caught sneaking out at night to watch the stars or go exploring the wilderlands surrounding the Hall one too many times, she was inducted into the ranks of the Knights of Saint Ulysses as a squire under the tutelage of Thondir Repennan. However, despite her training and wisdom, she failed the test to become a full knight at age 18 due to perceived low intelligence on account of her sheltered upbringing, leading Thondir to order her out into the world to prove herself and gather the experience and knowledge necessary for her to complete her trials and attain full knighthood.

gollark: Social acceptability actually is a significant issue because of network effects on, as a big example, messaging services.
gollark: I mean, it's not direct harm, but many things aren't.
gollark: Not really.
gollark: Increased use of privacy-preserving tools makes them cheaper and less private ones more expensive, increases the social acceptability of private tools, and makes it more expensive to do spying.
gollark: actually, it does.
