History

The Urutan-Yensa are a race of bipedal humanoids that have evolved from crustaceans. They dominate the sands of the Plains of Purple Dust and are known as the "Kings of the Sea," and travel the great expanses of the desert on their Giant Yensa steeds. Having a nomadic lifestyle since their evolution, the Urutan-Yensa have never become accustomed to the lifestyle of some of the more civilized races.

Society

Generally found in tribes led by Queens, the Urutan-Yensa are an incredibly territorial race that are known to fight off any outsider before they have a chance to communicate. They are a proud people who find weakness as the ultimate shame, and often see death as the only fitting punishment. One particular instance of this was when a member of a tribe requested help from outsiders to defeat a monster that was know for massacring the Urutan-Yensa. When this group of outsiders defeated the beast, the single Urutan-Yensa was sentenced to death by his tribe's queen.

Urutan-Yensa Names

The Urutan-Yensa are generally nameless, but are known by their accomplishments. The Urutan-Yensa Queens and Urutan Exiles are typically called by their titles.

Urutan-Yensa: Foe Cleaver, Wyrm Tamer, Yensa Master, etc.

Urutan-Yensa Queen: Queen

Urutan Exile: Exile

Urutan-Yensa Traits

Their thin yet hard, shell-like bodies allow the Urutan-Yensa to be surprisingly tough and agile. However, their limited contact with other races and violent nature results in them not being vey proficient in magicks.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by +4 and your Constitution score increases by +2. Your Intelligence score decreases by -1, your Wisdom score decreases by -1 and your Charisma score decreases by -1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
Age. Urutan-Yensa mature at age 10 and live to be around 40. The Urutan-Yensa Queens mature at 8and live to be around 80. Urutan Exiles mature at 10 can live to be 40, but most are killed before.
Alignment. Urutna-Yensa tend to be in the Neutral alignment; The Queens tend to be Lawful and the Exiles tend to be Chaotic.
Size. Urutan-Yensa are under 4 feet tall, with the Queens and Exiles towering above at 6 feet. Your size is small or medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. In sand and similar terrain, your base walking speed is 45 feet.
Limited Vision:. Due to your ancestry, your vison is not as good as most other races. You can see 40 feet.
Weathered Body. Because of the harsh environment you've grown accustomed to, your body can withstand most weather conditions, save the harsh cold. You are immune to being blinded, deafened, and frightened by non-magical means.
Crustaceous Heritage. Because you've evolved from crustaceans, your body is covered by a shell that protects you from certain damage. However it also makes you weak to other types. You are resistant to Force, Psychic, Fire, and Slashing. You are weak to, Cold, Lightning, and Acid.
Yensa Riders. Traveling along the Plains of Purple Dust is made much faster when done on the back of a giant Yensa [] You can Mount any Yensa you manage to encounter; roll 1d20 to determine whether or not it will obey you (17-20 successful mounting)
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Yensa; and only speak one other language of your choice
Subrace. You can choose from Urutan-Yensa Tribe member, Urutan-Yensa Queen, or Urutan Exile

Urutan-Yensa Tribe Member

Ability Score Increase. Your ability scores are the same for the main class
Loyalty to the Queen. Your loyalty to your Queen is second to none, and you strive to make her proud. If there is a Urutan-Yensa Queen within 100 feet of you, you get a +1d4 to all of your attack rolls
Fast and Furious. Your tempestuous nature and quick movements allow you to utilize special weapons. You are proficient in two martial weapon types, Scimitar and Longbow.
Strength in Numbers. As a tribe, your strength comes from the overwhelming amount of members. If there are 2 or more Urutan-Yensa Tribe Members within 60 feet of you, you get an additional +1 to your accuracy rolls.

Urutan-Yensa Queen

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength and Charisma stats both increase by +1
Noble Air. Your stature and mannerisms, while still primitive when compared to Humans, lead people to believe you are of Noble Standing. You get a +1 to Persuasion checks.
Ruler of the Urutan. You lead your own tribe of Urutan-Yensa and are greatly respected amongst them. If a Urutan-Yensa Tribe Member is within 20 feet of you, they can roll a d20 to take damage for you (must be a 16 or above).
Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Being the leader of a tribe, it is up to you to decide what happens when a member breaks your sacred rules and sentence them to a "Trial by Fire". You can cast the Druid cantrip "Produce Flame []"

Urutan Exile

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength stat is increased by +2
Survivalist. Having been banished from your tribe and have been forced to fend for yourself. You get at +2 on all survival checks
Sword Mastery. Having to fight for your own survival means that you need better weapons. You gain Proficiency in weapons of the Heavy and Two-Handed categories.
Pariah. Banishment has caused you to grow resentful of the Urutan-Yensa tribes. If an Urutan-Yensa Tribe Member is within 80 feet of you, you get an additional 1d4 damage to your attack rolls. If a Urutan-Yensa Queen is within 60 feet of you, you get a single action surge per long rest.
