Making a Undead Overlord

The Class is a strong caster but lacks any major capabilities other than that and requires aid for many fights that their minions cannot handle alone.

Abilities: Charisma and dexterity are their strongest points anything else can be considered secondary.

Races: Human and other death fearing or revering races are by far the most common.

Alignment: Non-Good.

Starting Gold: 3d6×10 gp (105 gp).

Starting Age: Complex.

Class Features

Masters of the twisted form of the corpse. All of the following are class features of the Undead Overlord.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Undead Overlord is proficient with all simple weapons and 1 martial weapon of their choice and are proficient with light armor.

Spells: Undead Overlords choose their spells from the Sorcerer and Cleric Spell lists their casting stat is charisma dc's for spells are charisma/wisdom (higher of the 2) based they have no limit to the number of spells they know only the limit on what they can cast per day:

Familiar: A Undead Overlord can obtain a familiar (see below). Doing so takes 24 hours and uses up magical materials that cost 100 gp. A familiar is a magical beast that resembles a small animal and is unusually tough and intelligent. The creature serves as a companion and servant.

Skeleton Group: The Undead Overlord gains a small group of 3 human skeleton fighters(medium sized) that follow the around and follow their orders. (all of the members of the Undead Overlord horde have 50% more hp, +1 to all of their stats, and are affected by any bonuses that are normally given to any type of summoned creature. should any of them be slain in battle they respawn in 1d6 rounds unless they are slain by an ally in which case they respawn in 1d6 + (level of creature that slayed them) minutes), this horde may be dismissed or re-summoned if they were not slain as either a movement or standard action (if slain their respawn timer must expire before they may be re summoned)

Pass the Pain: The Undead Overlord may transfer up to 80% of any lethal damage they receive to a member of their horde, if the horde member dies to this this is counted as an ally slaying them

Blade of Undeath (Su): The Undead Overlord may 3/day burn up spell slots/uses(up to their level) to add the combined number as d4's to a successful melee attack

Growing Horde: Each time the Undead Overlord gains this feat they may choose between 1 of 3 effects but each effect may only be chosen once: 1, they add 1 large mindless undead whose hd does not exceed their own (ogre default). 2, they may add 3 more medium or 4 smaller mindless undead to their horde whose combined level does not exceed their own. 3, their undead horde has any respawn timers halved and gain a +2 to all attributes and a +2 added to all attack and damage rolls

Stand Alone: The Undead Overlord may sacrifice all of their minions and force them all to be unable to respawn for 1d10 minutes. after activation of this ability for 2d4 rounds the Undead Overlord gains 1/2 their class level to all of their stats and also as temporary hp and in addition gain 1/4 of their level added to any damage they inflict from any source. this ability can only be used once per week

Enduring Voice: The Undead Overlord may add their cha mod to their hp rolls instead of their con mod

Lichdom: The Undead Overlord becomes a lich with all effects this entails


Ex-Undead Overlord

If the Undead Overlord gains a good alignment they lose access to all of their abilities until gaining a non-good alignment again.

Evolving Horde: The Undead Overlord may choose another Growing Horde effect without any restrictions on the one they pick (minus level limits)

Demi-Lichdom: The Undead Overlord becomes a Demi-Lich with total and complete control over their own abilities

Bonus Feats: The epic Undead Overlord gains a bonus feat every 4 levels after 20th.

Religion: Rarely pious or worship some god of death or the undead.

Other Classes: other classes interact with these people as they would most necromancers.

Combat: Back-Line minion master/buffer/debuffer/with ok healing.

these characters are supplements/replacements for generic necromancer types

Daily Life: Study, practice, resource gathering, general necromancer stuff.

Notables:rarely are there ever notable people of this group since they are often hated and killed.

Organizations: Undead Overlords act like necromancers so only gather in small groups (most of the time) at best and even then only rarely.

NPC Reactions: NPCs react to Undead Overlords how they would react to necromancers so treat them accordingly.

Undead Overlord Lore

Characters with ranks in can research Undead Overlords to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

20if you break their horde they are rather weak on their own but until then they take very little damage.

Undead Overlords in the Game

These characters are necromancers and always fit in wherever these people would in most campaigns

Adaptation: A possible variation is something like an undead shepherd peacefully moving souls to the afterlife.
