The Nameless Flame (5e Deity)

The Nameless Flame

Alignment. Neutal Evil
Domains. Fire
Divine Rank. Titan

The Nameless Flame is a demonic titan of a long forgotten era. Once, he was a powerful balor with an incredible dominion over fire until he merged his essence with the Abyss itself and transformed into a primal force of destructive flame. With his ascension and becoming one with the abyss, The Nameless Flame became truly immortal. Unlike the other extraplanar beings that could be destroyed forever if they were slain on their native plane, The Nameless Flame could only be destroyed when the Abyss ceased to be. However, becoming one with the Abyss cost him his name the ability to take a physical form of his own will, so The Nameless Flame allows his essence to be incarnated by those powerful enough to summon him. In exchange for a body, he follows his summoners command until either his body is destroyed or the summoner is dead.

The Nameless Flame is one with the Abyss. Rather than living on one of its layers, he simultaneously exists on each layer, though he cannot manipulate them as the Demon Princes or gods can.

The Nameless Flame's physical body and name are dependent on the form that his summoner desires. When he is summoned, a sacrifice is made and his essence is bound to the sacrifice's corpse. Each time this ritual is performed, The Nameless Flame's summoner names his new form as part of the binding. Once a name has been tied to a body, the two are forever linked. Should The Nameless Flame be destroyed, his name can be used to summon the same form associated with it, though the name is usually lost to history soon after The Nameless Flame's defeat. There are a few names that are remembered however.

The name Ferghrin was ascribed to the form of a goat-headed demon with flames rather than fur covering its body. The only other name recored was Bhaalphaegoss. This name was ascribed to the form of a gargantuan demonic dragon of earth and fire whose veins bore magma and whose breath could melt stone.

gollark: I prefer ijk.
gollark: No it's not, it's three lines, but still annoying.
