The Latex Quartet (5e Subclass)

The Latex Quartet

Warlock Subclass

Your patron is an entity within The Source, the birthing place of many powerful and seductive individuals. This entity shares similarities with the oozes and jellies and slimes but are of a different nature. The Latex Quartet preside over a small kingdom where unlucky adventurers find themselves ensnared by the latex within should they not watch their step. It clings to the entire skin and invades the soul, driving even the most prudent of people into degenerate animals which are put in a constant state of euphoria despite their bondage. The Latex Quartet are unifiers and masters of the latex pools found within the kingdom, which seem to fuel their powers. Those who find themselves champions of the kingdom are bound to a life of servitude and attempting to unite more more and more under the silky quad-colored flag. And are fated to join their masters all in due time.

Expanded Spell List

The Latex Quartet lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

1st Level: Entangle, Snare

2nd Level: Web, Enthrall

3rd Level: Fast Friends, Create Food and Water

4th Level: Fabricate, Grasping Vine

5th Level: Dominate Person, Modify Memory

Symbiotic Casting

When you pick this subclass at 1st level, you can choose to replace your spellcasting modifier and Charisma saving throw proficiency with Constitution, as well as any other warlock ability that relies on Charisma such as Eldritch Invocations.

Drain

Also at 1st level, when a creature drops to 0 hit points while grappled or restrained by you, you can use your action to drain it of vitality as your flesh turns malleable and ensnares it, granting you temporary hit points equal to your warlock level. You can also drain a corpse which has been dead for no less than 24hrs as an action.

Adhering

Once you reach 6th level your fibers and veins begin becoming like that of latex. You have resistance to bludgeoning damage. In addition, when a creature deals damage to you with a melee attack, your body can trap the weapon and you can attempt to disarm them as a reaction via a contest of strength (athletics) checks.

Hunter

Beginning at 10th level your patron grants you the power to manifest their body. As an action you can turn into a hunter of new denizens to the latex. You gain advantage on perception checks made to hear, smell, and see, increase your movement speed by 20ft., and your carrying capacity doubles. In this state you are also able to produce latex with which to encase your victims in at a rate of four bodies per hour. The latex must adhere to a solid surface for victims to be encased. The drain feature can be used on these victims without harming them. This transformation lasts up to 8 hours and you can perform a 1 minute ritual which requires your concentration to revert back to your normal self, and again to reform into your transformation. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Assimilation

Finally at 14th level your patron turns you into one of their hungering spawn, an extension of their mass. You gain the following benefits:

• You no longer age and cannot die of old age

• You can enter other creatures space to use the engulf feature of the Gelatinous Cube.

• You gain resistance to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage from nonmagical weapons

• You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

• You can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.

• If you are killed, your body will reform over the following 4d6 days

• You gain the ooze creature type

gollark: Not *all*.
gollark: You have a GPT partition table thing, and the firmware can just boot an EFI executable stored on the EFI system partition thing, based on the boot entries.
gollark: Modern bootloader-type things are run by the UEFI thing, which is much more complex.
gollark: So, it is probably *not* an EFI thing?
gollark: What sort of environment is your thing meant to run in? Is it some sort of EFI program?
