The Great Storm (5e Subclass)

As a warlock, your patron is the powerful elemental force known as The Great Storm.

Legend has it that the Storm was the product of an epic war between the eldest and most powerful blue and silver dragons. Charged by ancient magic, eternal hatred, and dragons blood, the final battle tore a hole between our realm and the Auran plane, allowing something to enter…

~ The Wanderer, Musings

Stormborn

Starting at 1st level, your patron has infused your being with elemental air. You can speak, read, and write Auran. You also gain the Shocking Grasp cantrip and may charge your melee weapon with it as a bonus action {charge expended on hit}. You can’t be disarmed while the charge is active. At 10th level you may charge ranged weapons and mundane items, (rocks, mugs of ale, taxidermy, etc.). Uses are equal your CHA mod and recover on short or long rest.

Expanded Spells
1st - Absorb Elements, Chromatic Orb
2nd - Warding Wind, Levitate
3rd - Sleet Storm, Haste
4th - Storm Sphere (EEPG), Conjure Minor Elemental (air)
5th - Conjure Elemental (air), Cone of Cold

Storm’s Eye

At 6th level, whenever you cast a spell that deals lightning or thunder damage, you may choose to manifest a stormy aura around you. Creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you take lightning or thunder dmg equal to half your warlock level (rounded down, minimum of 1, choose each time). You also gain a lesser resistance to lightning and thunder dmg, [25%, stackable]. At 12th level, add your CHA mod to the damage caused by Storm's Eye.

Aether Surge

At 10th level, you gain the ability to quicken your spells by channeling the power of the Storm. When you cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can change the casting time to 1 bonus action. Uses are equal your CHA mod and recover after a long rest.

Gift of Saffir

At 14th level, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed and you can hover. You may choose a storm-like effect for your flight each time you use this ability ala Prestidigitation. You also gain the Eldritch Invocation – Dust-off, as outlined below.

New Eldritch Invocations

Dust-off/Re-entry - Eldritch Invocation - Prerequisite: Natural Flying Speed, 5th level

As a bonus action, you may elect to focus your energy and suddenly take flight, causing a wave of force to explode outward upon takeoff. All large or smaller creatures within 5 feet need to make a STR save [8+CHA mod+PB] or be knocked prone. Using this ability does not cause attacks of opportunity. At 10th level you may land with the same force impact. At 14th level, you may use an attack to channel your Shocking Grasp into the ground as you take off or land. Uses of this ability are limited to your Charisma modifier and are regained after a long rest.

Whirlwind Stride - Eldritch Invocation - Prerequisite: 12th level

Once per short rest, you may cast Misty Step at as a bonus action or reaction without expending a spell slot. Your base movement is also permanently increased by +10 feet.

Invoke the Tempest - Eldritch Invocation - Prerequisite: 14th level

Until the end of your next turn, non-magical ranged attacks fail as violent winds swirl around the caster. You may cast Chain Lightning using a Warlock spell slot. This ability may be used once per long rest.

gollark: I picked this nice cyan-ish color.
gollark: It's also linked on the channel page somewhere.
gollark: Obviously ridiculous. Everyone knows the earth is a dinosaur.
gollark: Maybe they're frames to hold smaller lenses.
gollark: I actually can't tell if you're serious about that at this point.
