Talk:Warp Spider (5e Class)
Feel free to edit for balance. Also name suggestion would be very much appreciated. - KawaiiSpider
- A well-rounded class has features for combat, exploration and interaction. I think you've made the concept too narrow. Marasmusine (talk) 02:05, 13 February 2016 (MST)
- Thanks, what would you recommend I add? KawaiiSpider (talk) 22:54 13 February 2016 (AEDT)
- I appreciate this is an adaptation of the Warhammer 40K unit. I don't know enough about them (although I do actually own some warp spiders and I have the codex, I could read up about them.) Conversions of very specific video/board game characters often have this problem of not being broad enough for a whole D&D class. The traits are stretched a little thin... is it possible this can be an archetype for an existing class? They are "Eldar who represent a facet of their war god Kaela Mensha Khaine." - so maybe one of the divine classes. Marasmusine (talk) 05:18, 13 February 2016 (MST)
- I felt that as an archetype this was either too powerful or wasn't enough of a difference to be worth it. I also attempted to create a fighter variant that was an aspect warrior whose archetypes were each of the different type of eldar aspect warriors. However there was too much difference between the archetypes that they might as well have been separate classes, so I decided just to make the warp spider as it was the main one I wanted anyway. - KawaiiSpider (talk) 00:18 14 February 2016 (AEDT)
- With respect to my first comment, the class is fine for combat and exploration (spider climb, dimension door, etc) options. So I suggest thinking about how they fit into the D&D game world to see what interaction options are possible (it doesn't have to be much. The fighter barely gets anything in this regard) Marasmusine (talk) 05:01, 14 February 2016 (MST)
- Added a feature which allows for advantage when interacting with beings who are not currently in their home plane, is this enough off combat skills to remove the incomplete tag? - KawaiiSpider
- Anything for 13th and 17th level? Marasmusine (talk) 16:13, 15 February 2016 (MST)
- Possible edit, feel free to criticize it. Maybe shift the ability with the advantage on charisma checks to level 13 and at level 9 make it easier to identify if something is from that plane, and if not where it comes from? This could aide in the interaction part --Xlab (talk) 17:27, 9 August 2016 (MDT)
