Talk:Wanderer (3.5e Prestige Class)

Rating

Power - 5/5 I give this class a 1.5 out of 5 because it is rather unbalanced. For example, a wizard could put max ranks into Knowledge (Geography) and take the two feats given as prerequisites by level 5 (at which point he would easily have the ability to casts the spell expeditious retreat and increase his BLS by 30 feet), and then, the same wizard must simply take two levels in the class and suddenly he can cast a spell, charge 120 feet, and get +24 to both to hit and damage. Give this build to a race that has pounce, a bite attack, and two claws, and suddenly you have a character that, at ecl 7 or 8, is dealing +72 damage on the charge, which pretty much kills anything in the game at that level. Now then, the ability to increase the damage on a charge is fine, but the rate at which this damage is increased, that is the broken part. Rith (talk) 12:11, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Changed my rating to a 5 since this class has inproved a great deal since the rating was given. Rith (talk) 23:57, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Wording - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it is easily understood. Rith (talk) 12:11, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Formatting - 3/5 I give this class a 2 out of 5 because massive portions of the preload are missing and interwiki linking is (as of yet) lacking. Rith (talk) 12:11, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Changed my rating to a 3 since interwiki linking has improved, though, massive portions of the preload are still missing. Rith (talk) 23:57, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because I really like the idea behind this class, a stranger who can be found anywhere, at any given point in time. Rith (talk) 12:11, 24 April 2009 (MDT)

Power - 2/5 I give this class a 2 out of 5 because Its too powerful. A level 10 member of this class can teleport 150 feet and then make an attack as if he was using a +20 weapon while denying his opponent dexterity bonus to AC. And at this point the character is perfectly immortal. Losing ones equipment doesnt mean much if you can wield a normal weapon as a +20 weapon and cant be permenantly killed. --64.30.127.118 11:27, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

You get a single attack with a +20 bonus on it. Not seeing the problem. Surgo 11:39, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Wording - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because this was rather well worded. --64.30.127.118 11:27, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Formatting - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because Its fairly well put together but I cant find the Hit Dice for the class, which is a big thing to not include. --64.30.127.118 11:27, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because I really like this concept of a wondering warrior. --64.30.127.118 11:27, 13 May 2009 (MDT)

Tome material?

Okay, so not Frank and K, but does this feel like Tome material to anyone else? I don't know exactly what constitutes Tome material that makes it Tome material, but could/should this class by included there? -- Jota 20:22, 22 May 2009 (MDT)

Campaign Ready?

I love the idea of this prestige class, when will this PtC be finished? If it is finished is there anything I should be concerned with when it comes to adding a Illusionist/Shadowcraft Mage/Wanderer as a recurring NPC? Also, when I mean finished I mean finished when it comes to mechanics/balance not formatting. --JonathonWilder 11:36 am - 6/19/2011

Mechanically speaking, this class is complete. The only thing missing is fluff about how to include this class in a campaign (which is what you're interested in). While I'm not the author, I'd imagine you could treat them much in the same way you'd treat a wandering wizard. Maybe even a bit of a Doctor Who/bad guy from Princess and the Frog vibe, if you know anything about them. --Badger 23:37, 22 June 2011 (MDT)

Power - 4/5 This class is good and original, but the requirements to get in are ridiculously easy. You can become unkillable at level 15? Come on. There has to be either a bigger feat list as a requirement or some other special requirement. I understand you loose your powers if you own land or start a family, but immortality shouldn't be granted so easily. If it was, then there'd be no need for liches, because every wizard can just take this class at level 5. --AboveJester (talk) 16:45, 12 September 2012 (MDT)

Wording - 5/5 The wording is good, theres no problem there. --AboveJester (talk) 16:45, 12 September 2012 (MDT)

This has a very good skeleton with all the necessary items to make it useful. Just added the fleshing out to them for the fluff factor. Expanded on why no one sees them, a good reason to avoid conveyances and being a landowner with a family. Capitalized the Wanderer since it is the class name in areas where it referenced the class. Added the effects of the catastrophic event and what happens at it. Added reference to another Prestige Class: The Path of Four Winds devotee as a possible companion found elsewhere in this wiki. Other adjustments for flavor sake. -Phaad Nightsong 3 December 2017
