Talk:Two-Handed Spell (3.5e Feat)

wtf is this shit, its not look like srd feat so in which book is this from? or move it into user-made

It is in the homebrew content section (see Category:User), it just has odd formatting (I think, I'm not sure what passes for standard around here anymore). Pretty much everything not preceded by SRD: (a la SRD:Barbarian) is homebrew. I would also add that this is broken as hell. -- Jota (talk) 22:42, 16 August 2012 (MDT)
It should be balanced now. Constructive criticism is still welcome. Dozen (talk) 13:38, 19 August 2012 (MDT)
I still don't see this as particularly balanced because 1) as a wizard I'd expect you to have two hands free most of the time and 2) because it does not use up a higher spell level (as metamagic typically does) to compensate for the bonuses from metamagic. This is essentially Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus combined and applied to all spells with no cost. Even if the intended implication is that you have to have three or more hands free, the relative inaccessibility of the feat to most casters doesn't mean it's any more balanced. I don't want to say this is a dead-end concept, but I would clarify the three or more hands thing (if that's the case) and try to find some way to offer a creative boost to power without just making bigger numbers. This is really treading on the territory of heighten spell as it is. -- Jota (talk) 12:33, 22 September 2012 (MDT)
I will admit I came up with the concept of this feat on a whim, and never considered any ramifications. Also, the original idea was that using two hands to cast a spell makes the process of casting the spell easier, not boosts the outcome, both of which appear challenging to represent(For me, at least; I regularly fail to see the obvious to the extent I can't help but think I have an abysmal Wisdom score). To answer your question, no, a caster with two hands should benefit from this feat(I did think of a Multi-Handed Spell Feat, though). Below is another boon to replace the current benefits with. Since the feat changed so much, I think I'm going to scratch the old name as well and create a new page, if you approve of it. Dozen (talk) 16:12, 3 October 2012 (MDT)

Supportive Somatics

Through dedication and training, you've learned how to bolster your spells with new somatic components.

Prerequisite: Two or more limbs capable of providing somatic components, Caster level 1st, Spellcraft 4 ranks

Benefit: Whenever at least two of your hands are free, you may sew somatic components to spells you cast in addition to the requirement. A supporting component provides a bonus to any one measureable descriptor of the spell(Duration, Saving Throws, etc.). With this bonus, the descriptor is treated as if the spell was cast at one Caster Level higher. Only spells with somatic components can benefit from Supportive Somatics. Descriptors which do not increase along with your Caster Level cannot be supported. If the spell has a focus or material component you're required to perform an action with(such as breaking a mirror or throwing dust at the target), you may only cast the spell if you have another, currently unused hand or other means to perform the action.

Normal: You only need one hand to provide somatic components, and gain no benefit for doing so otherwise.

gollark: Correction: R. Danny sets up a background task for each reminder due soon™, and also has a loop thing for longer running reminders which does what I said.
gollark: ++about
gollark: I did. It was just bad.
gollark: Typescript.
gollark: Anyway, the RDanny algorithm isn't horribly complex, it just finds the nearest one and waits for that. It's just annoying and edgecasey.
