Talk:Tiered Weapon Weight (5e Variant Rule)

Ability scores can't be higher than 30 in 5e. SirSprinkles (talk) 13:38, 9 November 2020 (MST)

I am aware. As stated in the description, scores over 30 were listed in the case of a group using any potential +30 ability score homebrew rulings, but are otherwise unobtainable. --Ref3rence (talk) 13:39, 9 November 2020 (MST)

Small and Heavy Score is Weird

Only a 20th level gnome/halfing/goblin barbarian can overcome the heavy requirement, stop using the battleaxe, and use the three pound heavier version. This feels very wrong. I understand the purpose, but something about that feels very wrong. It doesn't even really affect anything else but small characters, so making it lower has no real domino effect. --SwankyPants (talk) 19:09, 26 November 2020 (MST)

None of the scores are cemented right now, and were mainly chosen to give a smooth increase between tiers. I personally still believe a goblin would absolutely need superhuman (supergoblin?) strength to be able to wield a greataxe with relative ease. What scores do you believe would work more reasonably? --Ref3rence (talk) 19:52, 26 November 2020 (MST)
Ehh, at most 18? I understand that most of heavy for them goes into them being awkwardly sized and unwieldy, but even then that's incredibly strong. Being slightly weaker than an ogre should probably do it. --SwankyPants (talk) 20:16, 26 November 2020 (MST)
That's fair enough. --Ref3rence (talk) 20:20, 26 November 2020 (MST)
gollark: Exactly. He was waiting for the opportune moment when his strength would be greatest and when it would be most dramatically appropriate.
gollark: And amassing followers.
gollark: Mere propaganda. Jesus knew exactly what he was doing. Ascending to lichdom.
gollark: Obviously, the whole prelude to Jesus actually "dying" *was* the ritual. It just took a while to operate.
gollark: The implications are obvious.
