Talk:Table of Hybrid Races (5e Other)

whoa

that is all. just whoa (in an impressive way) ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 09:18, 25 January 2019 (MST)

sorry not all; is the goal to have each one link to their own page too? ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 09:19, 25 January 2019 (MST)
That is indeed the goal! I foresee most of the table being red for quite a long time. I think I'll make them link to (5e Race Variant) pages and see if I can't do some fancy stuff with passing arguments into preloads, to make it easier. Varkarrus (talk) 09:27, 25 January 2019 (MST)
Sweet! Look forward to it. ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:39, 25 January 2019 (MST)

Progress

Hey Vark, the table popped on CL's DPL for WIP unedited after 3(?) months. I am pretty sure you are still working on this but could you do some edit to this to clear the DPL? ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:13, 13 May 2019 (MDT)

I was stumped on how to fix it, so I asked for help, and never got a response. The problem is there's a cap for article searches per page, which causes the template I made to break. Varkarrus (talk) 07:32, 13 May 2019 (MDT)
Yeah I do remember that. Have you seen a spreadsheet Guy uploaded on a treasure table for Hyrule? I think all they did was make the spreadsheet in excel, Print Screen to grab image and uploaded that. Downfall would be you can't link to the race pages themselves but would provide the imagery you want. ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:53, 13 May 2019 (MDT)
To paraphrase Varkarrus, the problem is there's a limit for certain parser functions like #ifexist. It seems like D&D Wiki is configured to not allow more than 100 on any given page.
If one is willing to use a boring wikilink for every nonexistent race instead of using {{HRCell}} for each one, then I think the problem is essentially solved. I guess that was already known, but it seems less of a compromise than instead posting a spreadsheet screenshot. - Guy 08:43, 13 May 2019 (MDT)
So....using a boring link instead would help this project? ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:20, 13 May 2019 (MDT)
It's the 27th right now, which marks a little over a year, and no progress. Has this been abandoned? Coaldstone (talk) 03:36, 27 January 2020 (MST)
With no replies, and no gauge of potential progress, I'm adding the abandoned template. Coaldstone (talk) 22:10, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
gollark: Don't care, I have the stuff in a few corners as an infinite water source, that's all.
gollark: Fun fact: picking blocks to use for stuff is VERY HARD.
gollark: What's the difference?
gollark: Just use 1.12.
gollark: ... why forge 1.13?
