Talk:Soul Reaper (3.5e Class)
Why?
Two fully operational Soul Reaper classes already exist, Kido Soul Reaper & Battle Soul Reaper this article is thereby redundant... Might I recommend making a Quincy Class instead? --D.M.DemonicPanda 14:58, 4 April 2009
- Variations on a theme. We all might have different interpretations over how to do something and when difference are irreconcilable or contradictory there are two different classes; no big deal. Personally I have yet to see any interpretation that really offers what I would look for in terms of shikai/bankai, but just because something already exists under one name doesn't mean we should shoot down different interpretations. --Jota 13:46, 4 April 2009 (MDT)
- Geth here. Sorry for such a weak class. I usually create more balanced classes. Once I get more time to focus on this class I will most defiantly devote some time to it. Until then i can only hope some GOOD additions can be made. Please no sloppy or unfinished work. --Geth 20:36, 30 September 2009
Suggestions
Honestly, the way that you have Soul Reapers organized by squad, it might almost be a good idea to change it to a race and have the squad assignments as classes. *shrug* Just my opinion, though - if you do some work, this could turn out being a really good thing. -Faer (not a member yet) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.0.199.232 (talk • contribs) 12:38, 12 October 2009 (MST). Is this how I do this? I'm going to make a sort of a laundry list of suggestions below.
Zanpakuto - This weapon could be fleshed out better. For instance, while it is considered masterwork, does it gain any bonuses for being a masterwork weapon? And while it is intelligent, its mental statistics are not defined. Book of Exalted Deeds has a certain feat "Ancestral Relic" which allows you to make monetary sacrifices to permanently empower a weapon. Complete Warrior provides the Kensai, who can do the same thing by sacrificing experience points. Giving your Soul Reaper a similar ability might give the class that special sword feel it asks for.
Spirit Body - If you're basing this class on the anime Bleach (and I can't imagine you're not), this doesn't make too much sense. Mayuri (mad scientist type) bases his entire bankai on poison. He poisons his vice captain at another point as well.
Sense Spirit - I'm not exactly sure how this works? Is it detect ___ but for all life? And what does it mean to detect power? Hit dice? Challenge Rating? Keep in mind this completely defeats most assassin tactics, and as there have been a couple sneak attack fighters among soul reapers, this might not be quite right.
Shikai - Is there a limit to how long people can shikai? There doesn't seem to be. I would honestly make it last hours, like the druid's wild shape.
Shikai Empowerment/Improved Zanpakuto Combat - I'm not too sure, I would myself rather go with the zanpakuto upgrade I suggested above rather than these, but it's entirely up to you I guess.
Bankai - I understand the desire to make things free and adaptable, but I feel like the bankai description really doesn't explain anything too well.
Anyway, that's all I have to say. I'm going to make an account now.
(this is Bloodwolf19) I did a soul reaper class for 2nd ed when i was in the millitary over in japan back a couple years ago, an i did it using the concept of the anime, with a lil more functionality of AD&D 2nd Edition, but set it up kinda like the way World of warcraft does their class "Spec," choices. an it seems to work well. just did where each level they acquired "talent points," instead of CP or slots as an example.--Bloodwolf19 20:52, 5 June 2011 (MDT)
My Class
Ok I see that Psycho has changed most of my class from what I had it at. I for one prefer the way it was and would request that it be changed back. I request this change mostly because it is only a shell of its former self and for the fact that I did not keep the hardcopy of the class i originally made. If anything it would be nice if it could be changed back for a mere day or 2 for me to gather the information and keep a copy of it for myself. Thank you. --Geth 20:36, 28 December 2009
- Although you can just re-edit your version of the page (see also History) I recommend you take all the good ideas presented here and implement them into this class starting with the base of your version. See what I mean? --Green Dragon 11:45, 28 December 2009 (MST)
Great Class! I'll make a Campaign based on Bleach for my friends and i'll use this as a guidelie ;)
