Talk:Slayer Mage (5e Class)

The class is trying to be everything at once, a caster, tank, barbarian, monk, damage dealer. I've been trying to balance it out. I feel like the author just wanted to fit all their favourite play styles into one class and ended up with this mess. Moth 1:58 AM EST 19/12/2018

I agree with you. On a different note, i noticed that eventhough the class can spellcast, it doesnt really hav a spell slot table, so i basically just added in "spell list" that the table is a sorcerer's spell slot table. Seeing as thats the case..... Welp28 20.41 PM PST

I don't think the author meant for this class to have both highleveled spellcastings of a sorcerer and a warrior's strength. Garret

The other 2 slayer disciplines were so much underpowered than god slayer, so i made them stronger, rivalling it. Garret

  • Spellcasting needs to be full, half or third so that it is compatible with multiclassing. Alternatively you can use a points-based system like the elemental monk (with points = class level starting at 2nd, and 1st-level spells costing 2 points, etc).
  • Here's an example of where a just a little thought, and reading through the PHB, will improve the design. "True God Mode" "lasts 1d4 plus your charisma modifier rounds". I guarantee you that at 17th level, this PC will have 20 Charisma: there's no point in bringing in a prime ability score modifier at this late tier. This gives us a duration of 6 to 9 rounds. Now look through the PHB and note any class features or spells with durations like this: you won't find any. There are 10 rounds in a minute, so you may as well just say that the effect lasts for 1 minute (compare with barbarian's rage). Nor will you find any random durations like "1d4 rounds". Furthermore, True God Mode does not say how it is activated. Marasmusine (talk) 13:19, 9 September 2019 (MDT)
