Shinobi (5e Class), Obliteration Technique
Hey man, it is quite an interesting goal you have. I see you already have Extra Attack, so when you take an action you are able to attack twice. On your next turn you'll get two attacks again. Why are you trying to store what looks like to me just 3 attacks, not actions I hope!, and also, why does the range increase to 10 feet?
I can see an argument it really isn't that powerful to store 5 Attack Actions, and unleash 10 attacks on your turn since Fighters get Extra Attack that gives 4 attacks, and with an Action Surge, they can do it again, gaining a total of 8 attacks. I'll leave you those thoughts, I won't make changes until we get the right idea your going for AND it is something balanced. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 11:55, 30 April 2018 (MDT)
- Well i recently started doing some blade smiting and made a sword and then learned about kenjustu its Japaneses sword technicians and one was charging up strength to unleash a powerful strike or a flurry of strikes.but with each step you make you lose that stored power.and you dont move an additional 10ft you can only move 10ft and if its possible have it not stack with Extra attack and just gain 1 more attack for each turn you stay charging.i hope this makes since.--Alucarddragonborn (talk) 10:38, 2 May 2018 (MDT)
- "You can enter a stance that focuses your energy into unleashing a rapid flurry of strikes. While in this stance, your movement speed is reduced to 10 feet and you can only use your action to focus your energy. On each turn you focus, you gain an Energy point. The maximum amount of Energy points you can have is your Shinobi level divided by 4, rounded down. When you exit this stance, you can make a number of melee attacks equal to how many Energy points you have. All unused points are gone when you finish a long rest. After you use this feature, you must finish a long rest." This is the best I've got right now. It has some unconventional mechanic to it but I don't believe there is a way around that with what you want this to do. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 11:10, 2 May 2018 (MDT)
That sounds pretty good i was a little confused about the energy points but it makes more since thank you also do i use this version or should we try to make up a different one.--Alucarddragonborn (talk) 12:28, 2 May 2018 (MDT)
- Feel free to use this version, no need to re-write though I did ask for peer review on the feature so there may be some tweaks down the road. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 12:44, 2 May 2018 (MDT)
Thats alright im grateful for the help now i can work on the other features.also is thier a place to learn all the shortcuts on the wiki, like making links without writing out the whole thing.--Alucarddragonborn (talk) 12:47, 2 May 2018 (MDT)
Review
In general, this is a monk/rogue mashup yeah?
1st level seems to have a lot going for it. The free equipment the class gets is concerning. Does the equipment materialize if you are multiclassing? I suppose the DM could always say you come across these items when you leveled up. But I has a DM would be curious how a class just gets items.
Wind Run-as written, there's no limit to it there fore its a pseudo-permanent 10ft increase
Shinobi Poison-DC formula is 8+prof bonus+relevant ability. it avoids arbitrary numbers being used. or, make the feature so you can apply poisons as a bonus action and they poison will the DC of said poison from the DMG or homebrew poison.
Sword Flash-I'd reduce it to 30ft move, they still get their move, and if using wind run, they can move 40 feet on their movement.
Projectile deflectiom-disadvantage and reduce by 3d10+wis I think is too strong. I understand getting this monk feature at later levels so buff it so its worth it. but still comes across too strong, to me. I'd remove disadvantage and a d10. suggestion, not a must.
Izuna drop-reword for clarity. I think I get it. and doesn't seem too crazy.
Doppleganger-elaborate on this feature. again, I can deduce what I can use it for but try and help the player's out with what this shadow does.
As usual, I reserve reviewing subclasses until a core class is more solidified (and more importantly-I make time for it). I noticed some SRD links, kudos on that. If the grammar, punctuations, and spellings could be fixed it'd go a long a way helping the class too. thanks for asking me to check this out too :) BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:48, 13 October 2018 (MDT)
