Classification?

None of the six Prestige Class types seem to fit this class, but as it has d4 hitdice, 1/2 BAB and no weapon proficiences, "Combat-Focused" is quite a stretch! Maybe there should be a "Skills-oriented" category? There's the option of taking Sneak Attack from the Anatomy advanced study option, but they still won't be of much use in a fight, and many won't take it. Maybe "Moderate Spellcasting"? With 3 of the 12 advanced-study options offering some sort of spellcasting ability (Magical Theory, Theology, Natural History), many will be slow-progress spellcasters, which fits the description of this category. --Findail 10:23, 18 October 2006 (MDT)

Well.... the six Prestige Class types were taken directly from WotC, and I am not sure if I want to add another and go away from the standard. However, I think that the "Moderate Spellcasting" label you put on this PrC will do a better job than the "Combat Focused". Anatomy slightly overpowered?

The Anatomy Advanced Study seems very overpowered to me, if I'm reading it right, as it is too easy to exploit.

To show a point, let's look at a standard lvl 20 Rogue 10d6 Sneak Attack, all Rogue features.

Now let's look at a Rogue Rogue 3/Sage 2/Rogue 15 who uses all feats from lvl 6 upwards on improving Sneak Attack. 16d6 Sneak Attack, one less Special Ability and one less Base Attack Bonus.

Of course, the latter Rogue does not have the versatility of a Rogue taking other feats, but honestly, if the two went toe-to-toe, the Sage Rogue would slay the standard Rogue.

I would suggest turning the initial Sneak Attack into a 1d6 instead of 2d6, and I would recommend that one still requires that the character be Epic Level before taking Improved Sneak Attack, but waive the 8d6 Sneak Attack requirement, so that an Epic Sage, who may not be as well trained as, say, a rogue, may still take the Improved Sneak Attack feat?
