Talk:Pumpkin King (3.5e Prestige Class)

Rating

Power - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because compared to the core druid or cleric that will probably form the foundation of most Pumpkin Kings, this class does not make such a character noticeably more powerful. The class abilities are all relevant regardless of the levels at which they are gained, yet none would be inappropriate at the minimum level at which they could be gained. Bonus points for a class that doesn't feel the need to hew to the 5/10-level convention by adding filler; the class exists only as long as it has to in order to fill out the concept. --71.49.69.196 17:27, 7 April 2009 (MDT)

Wording - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because almost everything is written quite clearly; those areas that seem borderline are only arguably so. I do wonder if there's a better way to word the spellcasting prerequisites, as the phrasing there seems a bit awkward. Concerning the Soul of the Harvest ability, is it really granting immunity to "unholy" damage (the sources of which can probably be counted on one hand), or is it meant to cover more common things like negative energy as well? (I presumed the latter when considering this class's power level.) And a specific note on the Pumpkin Men ability, indicating whether the control pool is totally separate from your normal undead control pool, might be warranted. --71.49.69.196 17:27, 7 April 2009 (MDT)

Formatting - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because the formatting seems perfectly in line with both the standard formatting for a prestige class and the guidelines used on this site, and all relevant terms are linked. --71.49.69.196 17:27, 7 April 2009 (MDT)

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it fills a fascinating niche not well-covered by any of the core material (the evil druid/necromancer), and even the most mundane of its abilities (damage type and condition immunities) are given a dash of extra flavor to indicate their presence. Any character taking this class is going to be quite unique, and will clearly make an impression on others. This is one of my favorite F&K classes, and probably one of my favorite prestige classes full-stop. --71.49.69.196 17:27, 7 April 2009 (MDT)

Balance - 2/5 I give this class a X out of 5 because The 8th Level ability is too strong to be balanced, in comparison to the core classes.
