Talk:Nature's Gauntlets (3.5e Equipment)

This is ridiculously overpowered and horribly underpriced... 30,000gp for all of those abilities? Lets you use your magic items while Wild Shaped? This is at least an epic level item, and thus should cost millions of gold, or an artifact.

It was quite shocking, I've given it a quick rewrite to snip out the worst offenders, it's still probably overpowered. Marasmusine (talk) 01:42, 25 May 2015 (MDT)

Cost

Animate Plants 1/Day = 7th level Spell * min 13th level caster * 1800 (command word) = 163,800 gold / 5 for only one charge per day = 32,760 Gold. Next ability is Barkskin = 2nd level spell * min 3rd level caster * 2000 (Continuous) * 1.5 (10 min/lvl duration) = 18000 * .75 (2nd ability similar to the first - being generous as they are plant based) = 13,500 Gold Next ability is entangle at will = 1st lvl spell * 1st lvl caster * 2000 (continuous) * 2 (1 min/lvl duration) = 4000 * .5 (3rd ability - also similar for being plant based) = 2,000 Gold Next ability is Detect Animals or Plants at will = 1st lvl spell * 1st lvl caster * 2000 (continuous) * 1.5 (10 min/lvl duration) = 3000 * .5 (4th ability - also similar for being plant based) = 1,500 Gold

Total = 49,760 Base Cost to Create, 1990 Xp, 50 Days. Market Price is 99,520 Gold

I left the other abilities unpriced as a freebie - the grapple bonus and being able to use the gauntlets while wild shaped.

The price could go up - I am currently using the Barkskin at the lowest caster level which would only grant a +2 Natural Armor Bonus. It is also not indicated at what caster level the entangle spell nor the detect spell are cast. We'll assume the lowest level possible for the Animate Plants spell. You may argue that the entangle spell is unnecessary as it is granted through the Animate Plants spell, in which cast You could drop 2000 gold from the base price. However, it should still be noted at what level the entangle spell will be cast. - I may have missed things. --Calidore Chase (talk) 23:51, 7 November 2015 (MST)

gollark: Well, there seems to be some sort of strange information conservation law where you can't really do *useful* things with it.
gollark: We use it to get security updates early.
gollark: Oh, they must be using something like the osmarks.tk™ closed timelike curve.
gollark: But they're government-funded-ish, which adds new ones.
gollark: They don't have to make ad revenue, which removes some of the bad incentives.
