Talk:Mesmer (5e Class)

I'm a little confused by their role. They are given features and proficiencies for melee combat, but they have worse HD than a wizard (conceptually the lowest HD class). Is it supposed to be 2d4 HD? Marasmusine (talk) 13:26, 20 April 2016 (MDT)

I see what your saying that was just a woops on my part I've changed it to being d8 hit die.

for the incomplete side of things what needs to be added hedied4a11

The class needs features at every level if it not a spell caster with the class preferably not having more than 1 feature at any level except for maybe 1st and 2nd levels. Also, some features(The Prestige) need their power level to be reduced and the general wording of the class needs to be improved. I will remove the delete template if work is done to improve the class.--Blobby383b (talk) 08:32, 18 July 2017 (MDT)

Ok thanks blobby I work on it as soon as I have time (Hopefully soon XD)

I will assume the class is close to being finished when there are features at all levels. I will also do cleanup work on the class to help finish it once it is almost done or beforehand if you want to ask me about a certain feature.--Blobby383b (talk) 21:32, 19 July 2017 (MDT)

Jan 18th 2018 Changes

Hello! I'm taking a stab at updating this page a bit to feel more coherent in referencing key terms, rather than listing + your x modifier + your y modifier where relevant. Also, why are there two "extra attack" listings. These do not stack in 5e PHB (Pg 164, Extra Attack). The only class that can expand the ability of Extra Attack to make more than 2 attacks per attack action is the Fighter and a mesmer is not a fighter. Lastly, "Crows" is not really a mesmer spell from gw2 and 3d4 damage DoT as a bonus action with no casting restraints seems silly and a headache. I've made changes to the damage and limitations of the spell. It might be more relevant to the mesmer theme by renaming it to the iconic "Cry of frustration" from the game, then changing the the ability a melee reach aoe centered on the mesmer (and its clones) triggering at the end of its turn instead. Perhaps add a cast limit before extended rest (or do the massive work of making these all spells and assign spell slots for the recently added spell chart)Rekeme (talk) 22:11, 12 January 2018 (MST)

I did a lot of editing in the end. I looked into the gw2 mesmer and turned "Shatter" into an ability with three uses that can be done once a day. May revise the limitations on that to something more scaleable late game. I moved extra attack back to level 7 and I'm really not sure what "Magic Broom" is or why it replaced longsword or crossbow choice and was added as a proficiency.
In addition, having Unarmored defense and two picks of Fighting style a bit redundant. It should probably be either 2 picks of fighting styles, or Unarmored defense and something else at lvl 11. Though stacking that much AC from raw stats seems pretty unfair.
Also clarified a lot of the wording in the arch-types and made certain each ability had a defined action associated with it. Please let me know if anything seems over or undertuned.Rekeme (talk) 02:34, 13 January 2018 (MST)

gollark: Lua does have libraries, but they're not really as convenient as the quadrillion built-in Python ones. Though frankly many of the builtin ones are awful and you need external ones half the time.
gollark: I could probably replace much of my Python usage with Lua if there was a good set of libraries I could use for stuff like HTTP, filesystem access, Unicode string handling, string manipulation generally, and all the other random tasks I need.
gollark: It was implied heavily.

gollark: And that's probably from Civ.
