Talk:Lycanthrope, Variant (5e Class)

This class seems to be combining the best of Barbarian, Monk and Fighter, eventually growing to a damage output and resistance that surpasses both while in hybrid form. (permanent resistance, 1d12 hit die and up to 174 bonus hp and 2 attacks for 2d12 and one for 2d10) I think this needs to be balanced better but my knowledge about classes is not advanced enough to give suggestions on how to do it, except to reduce most numbers. --Kara (talk) 06:48, 18 April 2019 (MDT)

I used the class guide damage numbers to gauge what the average damage of attacks should be. This class certainly does not surpass fighter, but if it is getting too close, I will gladly reduce the damage. I am playing it now to test.

The bonus hit dice is the mechanic I wanted to play around most with for this class, so having high hp is the thing I am most partial to. The bonus hit dice in total will be less healing than a caster could give, but since this is self-healing and the class does not have the drawbacks of a full caster, I will keep an open mind about reducing them or changing some other form of hp.

The damage resistance was an attempt to include all the aspects that seem unique to lycanthropy in the monster manual. If it seems to be too much of a benefit while I am testing, I will weaken it as soon as I am sure.

Thank you for your input. The end goal for this class is to have a similar role to barbarians but to focus on being a wall rather than a striker. --Puffin the Lycanthrope
