Talk:Kitsune (3.5e Race)
Lock?
Would someone lock my kitsune up?
Sure.
Sure, it is now locked. Sorry for not seeing this sooner, but I was gone... Sorry.

Over Powered?
I think it is better if it had a +2 adjustment instead of one. I compared it with a few other races and it is more equal to a +2 race than a +1.--Tisarugain 15:41, 24 June 2008 (MDT)
Re: Overpowered?
Totally overpowered. Permanent True Seeing alone is worth +1 LA. Unbalanced stats and other bonuses push it over. This is more in the 2-3 LA range. Consider drawbacks. Maybe -2 Cha, kitsune not relating well to humans? Or even -2 str, as their small forms are frail. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.161.253.171 (talk • contribs) . Re: Re: Overpowered?
Same Poster as Re:Overpowered, unregistered. My suggestion for this race is as follows. You can keep the kitsune as they are and bump the level adjustment. This race is closer to 2.3, so you can go either two or three- maybe a few more abilities in exchange for 3, or a drawback for to. this preserves the kitsune's flavor as divine beings and more than any human. You can also reduce their bonuses and make them a more common race on par with PC races; my suggestion for this is as follows.
- Drop Eye of the Fox; swap for +4 Spot and Hide. [This ability was WAY powerful. Suggested fix preserves flavor but is mechanically weaker.]
- Dancing Lights as a SLA at will; CL is equal to kitsune's HD. (Fox Fire) [This is simply a mechanical smoothing change and allows the kitsune's fox fire to get more powerful as they go up levels. It also has the benefit of defining the ability within game terms.]
- Add -2 STR, 0 LA. [Final Balancing. You may want to move the -2 Str to any other stat; you may even consider doubling it up on CON. The point is to have equal bonuses and penalties for the kitsune's stats rather than one weighted heavily toward the player.]
If you wanted to further the Kitsune's abilities after my suggestions, consider beefing up Fox Fire into giving uses of Faerie Fire- Maybe 5th level Kitsune get 3 uses/day at their HD for CL? The same could be applied to pushing them up to +3 LA, but more. I'd look into a package of Light and Illusion Related Spell-Like Abilities if you wanted to push them to 3. If you wanted to drop them to 2, look more into changing Eyes of the Fox to True Seeing 2/Day, and Permanent Nondetection. Enjoy, and again, just suggestions.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.161.253.171 (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts!
Absent Author and a Lock
Well, since you have given an interest in the race, and given that the page is locked (and the author hasn't edited it since 2006), you might merely be better off making a variant race (and signing up for an account too). If you need help with anything of course, simply ask. --Ganteka 16:25, 1 February 2009 (MST)
I think further study is needed..
I am soon to prepare a 4th edition to this here is the link into its history. seems they were mostly not just tricksters but devotes to a lineage as well possible priest if you will here is the link in wiki.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune Here is what I came up with as a possible new revised version.
- int +2
- wis+2
- dex+2
- str -2
- con-2
- chr-2
these stats i found are more well balanced and as i keep testing the race i will be posting more in the 4th edition. tho you all will see a much better Kitsune as time progresses look there soon.
If it is use full please follow and keep it either here or place it in its place if you would. all characters must be well rounded and never overpower-full. everything has a time to where it belongs and everything has a time place and existence.
- There's a 4th edition Kitsune at Kitsune (4e Race) - it's not in a playable state at the moment but does have a lot of fluff written for it. Perhaps you can help improve that article. Marasmusine 01:59, 4 March 2012 (MST)
I like those modifiers, but I would drop the str and cha changes.
+2 to dex & wis is great for Ninjas, the intended class.
-2 to con & int would work well to counterbalance this bonus, to give them a few less skills.
