Talk:Hero-Bard of Awesomeness (3.5e Optimized Character Build)

So it's not a bard build at all?

A Lyrist build. Period. Here's Iaimeki's Tools for Fochlucan Lyrist Builds. Read please. Regards, Pwsnafu 16:36, 2 December 2007 (MST)

Considering that Fochlucan Lyrist is based off of bard, I consider it to be a bard build. Besides, bards need all the cool optimization they can get-I love the class, and it might might survive the change to 4th Edition. Thanks for the link, though. I suppose I can't really take credit for it. Still, it is pretty cool. --Sir Milo Teabag 16:22, 3 December 2007 (MST)
While we are on the topic of lyrist builds there is Bard 4 / Druid 3 / Arcane Hierophant 3 / Sublime Chord 1 / Fochlucan Lyrist 9, which has more casting power than what's here. Can't remember where I say that, it's been a while. As for straight bard builds there's also Bard 7 / Virtuoso 3 / Sublime Cord 2 / Virtuoso +7. Another one to look out for is JanusJones' Song of Death. How often do you see bards doing 1000+ damage? Regards. --Pwsnafu 21:51, 1 January 2008 (MST)
Whoa. I guess I'm a noob at bards... but you have to agree. They do have potential to be good. I'll be doing a second one of these soon. It's not nearly as powerful as the bard you just showed me, but it's got way more flavor. --Sir Milo Teabag 09:02, 4 January 2008 (MST)
they're not exactly weak as many claim them to be, bards. Personally, I think the problem with bards is that they're sort of not as good as other classes at the things they do; they're not as good at spelcasting as wizards, sorcerers, druids or clerics, they're not as skilled as rogues and not as good in combat as barbarians or fighters. --Sam Kay 10:28, 4 January 2008 (MST)
The real problem is splatbooks. They advance every other class to the point where the bard is horse manure. Need party buffs? Chained Reach Empowered greater heroism (using rods of course!). Or a one level dip in Martial. Need gish? Hexblade 20. That leaves bardic knowledge, when you can just hire a sage...or a loremaster. Regards --Pwsnafu 19:12, 12 January 2008 (MST)
gollark: No.
gollark: Unless you muck with `Deref`, but don't.
gollark: No inheritance, because inheritance is kind of stupid.
gollark: You have structs and they can have methods, and implement interfaces (traits).
gollark: Rust supports kindofOOP, but sanely, through composition, since it has no inheritance.
