What happens if your pseudodragon gets killed? Marasmusine (talk) 20:50, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Let's take another look then :)
Isn't this just the dragon tamer class? With a few edits? Energon97(talk) 21:11, 1 May 2017 (EST)
It looks to me like a cross between the Dragon Tamer and Dragon Rider classes. The Dragon Knight's Draconic Prowess feature is a modified version of the Dragon Rider's Draconic Prowess, for example. Also, the multiclassing section at the end says Dragon Tamer. But for some tips, Draconic Prowess should say that it adds and additional attack, so it doesn't conflict with Extra Attack. Plus, from how I saw it, if your dragon dies, you may bond with any dragon of any age (excluding Ancient if you are not Level 20). This is overpowered, since a level 1 could bond with an Adult dragon. A good way to fix that is to specify that at 1st level you can only bond (or tame, if you prefer) psuedodragons, then at level 5 allow them to bond with Wyrmlings, and so on for the rest.
Oop! Forgot signature! ;) Agrith (talk) 22:00, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
what would happen if your bond is blood. i am using this in a campain where one of the character dragon is they're sister, and they're a draconic race; raised by a dragon along with the others in the hatching. Lord_Survival (talk) 15:18, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- Here are some of the balance problems this class has:
- The dragon does not scale linearly and gets insane boosts to its power far too quickly. The dragon also acts on its own turn and acts on its own which massively improves the power level of the class compared to the beastmaster ranger
- Spellcasting is lacking in info, you shouldn't be able to learn cantrips as a half spellcaster, and you learn far too many spells.
- Dragon Scales. A +1 bonus to AC by itself is incredibly powerful, see Understanding Bounded Accuracy (5e Guideline).
- Enhanced Dragons Breath. Same as above but for a slightly different reason, you shouldn't be able to increase your spell save DC on an already incredibly powerful breath weapon
- Draconic Conduit. This is 3 free 5th level spells, which is huge for a half spellcaster and you can use a bonus action instead of an action to use it
- Fighting Style. The Brutal and Mounted Archery fighting styles are not ok. The Brutal fighting style is too powerful because you shouldn't be able to potentially knock creatures prone for free when you hit them and on hit effects should not require saving throws as it greatly slows down combat. The Mounted Archery fighting style is just a bland overpowered more damage fighting style.
- Art Of War. 1st thing, this separates weapons into some undefined categories. The next thing as that these options increase your damage output by an insane amount with some weird interactions on how the damage is actually increased.
Besides that, several other subclass features push the class even further into being overpowered, though through this quick review it is obvious to tell that the class's power is far beyond that of 1st party classes.--Blobby383b (talk) 20:00, 1 June 2018 (MDT)
- Removed the delete template. I am currently playing this class and while I have already saved it, I have already tweaked the class to work in the campaign I'm playing it in and I am working on changing this class to become more balanced as well. Last IP edit was done by me, on accident. --ConcealedWife (talk) 04:52, 13 June 2018 (MDT)
- Good luck on making the class more balanced, it will likely be a tough challenge as most if not all of the class needs substantial revisions to make it comparable to 1st party classes. Also, if you do end up having questions about the class or how to possibly improve it, feel free to ask for advice.--Blobby383b (talk) 20:15, 13 June 2018 (MDT)
