Talk:DnD Discussion

Formatting

I think that discussions here should be formated like any wiki-discussion; with an indented comment. I know not everyone agrees (Dmilewski already stated otherwise), and so I think this should be put to the vote.

I have to agree that the line delimited text is easier to read, especially when comments can involve multiple paragraphs. Cúthalion (talk) 20:27, 6 May 2007 (MDT)
Formatting for Discussions
Wiki-LikeWith lines (----) seperating each comment
  1. Green Dragon
  1. Aarnott
  2. Blue Dragon
  3. Cúthalion (talk)
  4. Sledged: the difference is warranted in that talk pages can contain several different topics of discourse. Discussions here differ in that each subject has it's own a page (or at least they should). Also, the use of <dd>s (which is what ":"s translate to in HTML) for indentation actually abuse of the original intent for styling purposes.
It has been settled, then (4-1, running for over a week). All discussions will now be formatted with lines separating them, instead of with dds. Blue Dragon (talk) 20:32, 10 May 2007 (MDT)

Okay... I really cannot stand the current formatting, so I have another idea... How about we make no indentations (like it presently is) but instead of dividing comments with ---- we use l3 or l4 headers with the posters username in the header. An example of the current one can be found almost anywhere, whereas my idea can be found at Discussion:What happens when a wizard takes VoP?. --Green Dragon 00:24, 1 June 2007 (MDT)

I can run with that. --Dmilewski 04:38, 1 June 2007 (MDT)
I could walk with that, but my running isn't great. Blue Dragon (talk) 18:48, 5 June 2007 (MDT)

Turning it into a forum

Wiki is awesome and all, but there is a time and a place for different styles of editing. I propose a few different options to change our discussion pages.

  1. Add a forum to the server (phpbb -- I can help whoever installs it). Make it be at dandwiki.com/forum.
Addendum: non-phpBB forum. —Sledged (talk) 22:38, 31 January 2008 (MST)
  2. Add a page that will allow you to enter a comment and include quotes --> it will format it for you (I could program this in php).
  3. Have a template for discussion comments ie:
{{Discussion_Comment
|user=Aarnott
|date=~~~~~
|comment=Blah blah...
}}

The third option would at least encourage people not to use average wiki syntax for discussions. We could also have a quote template:

{{Discussion_Quote
|user=Green Dragon
|text=Put more spaces before those "Back to" footers!
}}

I assume wiki can nest templates right?

Anyways, let me know what you guys think... --Aarnott 17:17, 10 January 2008 (MST)

I say #1: a phpbb forum. —Sledged (talk) 20:00, 31 January 2008 (MST)
phpbb is not an option. The security on phpbb is horridBlue Dragon stated that he will not allow this on this server. Sorry. Maybe we should look into other forums if we want to consider that option. --Green Dragon 22:20, 31 January 2008 (MST)
From the end-user point of view, I'm not so concerned with what forum software is used. There's a lot from which to choose, even if you limit the selection to open source software. —Sledged (talk) 22:38, 31 January 2008 (MST)
I am all for a template. --Green Dragon 00:01, 13 February 2008 (MST)

Why can I not see any of the discussions?

I even changed computers and accounts, and I can't see any of the discussions (which means it's a problem on your end). ?

I need help in 3.5 can you multi class a cleric and a dragon shaman

I took the healer/support tag from the hat so i thought a dragon shaman with their aura and a clerics healing would be nice but i don't know if the can be compatible.....im a half elf if that makes a difference

Disclaimer

How do you make the disclaimer thing on the pages for certain weapons? I can't figure it out.

Character Idea

Is there anyway I can play god like character?

Such an open ended question. I'll say yes, because anything is possible. With more specifics you get a better answer!   ~BigShotFancyMan   talk   13:30, 30 September 2019 (MDT)
I made a player in my DnD game a demigod. I mean, no special benefits, just part of their story to put into the game. --Flamestarter (talk) 09:31, 4 March 2020 (MST)

Portal Grenade

I want you guys' thoughts on something. In Thor: The Dark World, the Dark Elves have a nasty little bomb that they throw that opens a portal into... somewhere and kills a target. 1 or 2. But it's an instant kill, ripping the target apart and pushing them through space-time. Is that kind of thing over-powered? Flamestarter (talk) 16:34, 13 November 2019 (MST)Flamestarter

Depends on how it's designed. If the saves are pretty easy to overcome, it's based on a ranged attack from the dark elves, and say it only effects a target group, I would say it's considerable for a game. --Green Dragon (talk) 22:32, 13 November 2019 (MST)
Green Dragon, define "easy to overcome". See, the biggest problem is if it's too easy to overcome, it's not really a weapon, but if it's too hard, it's a sure shot. Flamestarter (talk) 18:29, 21 November 2019 (MST)Flamestarter
Here's an idea for what I mean.
Say it's launched into an area. The portal creates a strong vortex, and creatures are pulled in. The round it's casted the enemies make a Strength save vs a DC 8 + spellcasting mod to jump out of the vortex. If you maintain concentration, the next turn the caster makes ranged attacks against creatures caught in the vortex to establish a grid where the creatures are that are going to enter the portal. Maybe in two rounds, where creatures caught in the vortex can keep trying to jump out, the caster makes another attack to activate the position grid. Next, the portal springs to life. If a creature is pulled into it they have to make a Wisdom save or explode, otherwise they would take some amount of damage.
Dunno, but I think it's doable just needs to work for all sorts of characters. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:51, 22 November 2019 (MST)
Hmm. See, that brings up a problem because that's not how it's done in Thor: The Dark World. Maybe something like a dexterity check to jump out of a small range of the weapon while it's being thrown with kind of the same lines? I don't know, but I definitely want to make it an item that not only works for spellcasters. Well, thanks, I'll try to put your advice to use. Why isn't this information being displayed any longer? Red Leg Leo (talk) 13:12, 2 March 2020 (MST)

I don't believe this is the case for all of the discussions that are missing last post by, but I did move a large number of discussion posts that were in the incorrect namespace(ie lacking Discussion:) and that seems to be what is causing the problem.--Blobby383b (talk) 17:45, 3 March 2020 (MST)
It may have created an issue but even discord server verification is this way, or the brand new discussion I created works that way. Its....different. Red Leg Leo (talk) 07:30, 4 March 2020 (MST)
You seem to be correct, although moving those pages may have caused an issue, the oldest page that has the problem, Discussion:Ki-Empowered Strike Reflavoring has not been moved and several it seems all pages after the 6th of September 2019 have this issue.
I have tried a few things to fix the issue like replacing addlasteditor=true and clearing the page's cache with Template:Purge but so far I haven't had any luck and my knowledge of html and how everything works is surface level at best. As such, I will try to see if anyone else knows any potential solutions to this problem.--Blobby383b (talk) 13:34, 5 March 2020 (MST)
Well you've certainly tried. I thank you. Hopefully BD can look at it at some point. Red Leg Leo (talk) 10:01, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
