Talk:Dazzling Swordsman (3.5e Prestige Class)

Purpose of this Exercise

As may well be obvious, the Dazzling Swordsman is ideologically the same as the Dashing Swordsman. Both are attempts to achieve the same goal. However, my idea of what constitutes a dashing swordsman and Sir Milo's idea are so radically different that I feel to edit his article with my ideas would constitute a form of hijacking. Hence, I have created the dazzler instead.

Good luck. I see a lot of potential. Much to my chagrin, this is probabaly better than mine. It should be fun to see what the text is like. --Sir Milo Teabag 17:21, 17 August 2008 (MDT)

Formatting and the Prestige Class Preload

My intent when first creating the Dazzling Swordsman was to simply copy and paste the prestige class preload and fill it out as needed. The preload, however, was so incredibly unintelligible that I simply decided to copy and paste the assassin page and edit it as appropriate. There are still a number of assassin skills, spells, and feats left. Seeing a number of differences between the assassin's page and that of the spider rider, I started fiddling around. Eventually I started trying to make the dazzler's page look more like an actual entry from the DMG or a "Complete ____" book. This meant a number of things: a short blurb about members of the class immediately between the article title and the "Becoming a" section; entry requirements as a subsection of "Becoming"; and hit dice listed on the same line as "Table: The ____". Those were just the changes I had begun to implement. I apologize if that doesn't follow the preload, but I can't honestly read the preload. Additionally, I'm still trying to learn wiki code... it's like learning HTML and CSS all over again. So for a while, this article's formatting will fluctuate wildly. Sorry for the confusion, but consider this a head's up. I'm still learning the ropes, and this article will reflect that.

Sincerely,

Wow, I feel dumb. I had copied and pasted the preload page, instead of the source. It's much more legible now. When I get a chance, I'll work to conform the dazzler to the preload. Allow me to apologize for my ineptitude to anyone who has had the misfortune to see these in-between stages. Sorry.--Monkeychewtoy 02:31, 26 July 2008 (MDT)
Don't sweat it. I could never read that stupid preload either.--Sir Milo Teabag 17:23, 17 August 2008 (MDT)

Notes to Self

Detect hero should follow blackguard's template for detect good. Also work in smite evil.

An ability called 'pithy protagonism' will function as 'remove fear.' Dastards have 'artful antagonism' for 'cause fear.'

Don't forget blackguard's 'dark blessing' with a new name. Also don't forget the CHA version of weapon finesse. And keep Iaijutsu Focus in mind.--Monkeychewtoy 03:40, 28 July 2008 (MDT)

Razzle Dazzle

Status effects like dazzle and paralyze typically last for 1d4 + Character Level rounds (at least paralyze does, I'm assuming it's a general rule). Also, there should probably be a sentence about combining razzle dazzle, sneak attack, and sudden strike.--windandfire 16:49, 29 July 2008 (MDT)

gollark: If I ever finish Dragon autocrafting, the recipes will be solved.
gollark: They're so overcomplicated.
gollark: Also, the recipes: That is a bad point.
gollark: In OC, there is a ROM'd sandbox thingy, but it does much less.
gollark: It's in ROM.
