LA 7 Races

Please add this to LA 7 Races using Template:LA Race. Its really annoying that no one adds their race after making it... Just getitng annoyed about little things, sorry. --Green Dragon 23:16, 24 January 2007 (MST)

So...copy paste the template? Can do--Cypresslyshra 23:18, 24 January 2007 (MST)
Amendum: This seems not to work. I can't seem to get the Template to work. What do I do?
Amendum to Amendum: Scratch, I figured it out. I'm awake now
I was about to go in and edit for you to help you format it right... Glad you figured it out, their is a major learning curve for wiki tables (especially ones with templates imbedded in them)... --Green Dragon 23:44, 24 January 2007 (MST)
Given enough time, even someone as slow as I will catch on.--Cypresslyshra 23:49, 24 January 2007 (MST)
Amendum: Maybe^_^
Lol.... --Green Dragon 23:51, 24 January 2007 (MST)

Creatures of Magic

Also, since Daemons are creatures of magic, they are repelled by anti-magic fields, and are affected by dispel magic.

So how are daemons affected by dispel magic, and what happens if someone next to them casts antimagic field? —Sledged (talk) 15:11, 25 April 2007 (MDT)

Well, dispel magic can kill them. They'll dissolve into a silver mist. They can resist it the same way items can resist dispelling, replacing casters level with the Daemon's level.
And if they are near someone who casts antimagic field, they will be HURLED away from the caster, as though hit by a firehose.
That good?--Cypresslyshra 19:53, 25 April 2007 (MDT)
So far so good. How far beyond the antimagic field are they hurled? Does being hurled cause damage? Does being hurled result in them being knocked prone? What if the daemon (and the caster) is in an enclosure and the antimagic field fills the entire space? —Sledged (talk) 11:33, 26 April 2007 (MDT)
They are throw away as though a they were loaded into a seige catapult, so they take damage from impact equal to xd6, where x is the level of the caster. If they are trapped in a room, they take constant crushing damage until they escape, or are killed.--Cypresslyshra 13:27, 28 April 2007 (MDT)
I'm guessing the crushing damage is also equal to (caster level)d6 per round. —Sledged (talk) 09:59, 1 May 2007 (MDT)

Vital statistics

Thanks for putting it up, but most of that stuff is a bit complex when you try to apply it to daemons.

Daemons technically reach adulthood at 300 years, but that is the time at which point other daemons consider them adults. Daemons become mature according to the being that they are mimicking. If the daemon is living with elves, it will become mature 100 years of age, or if it is mimicking humans, it will become mature 15-21 years of age.

As for aging, daemons don't follow the same rules that other beings do. They don't grow weak when they grow old, if anything they become more powerful.

And the base height and weight chart is not needed, since they would use the height-weight chart of the race they are mimicking.--Cypresslyshra 20:08, 25 April 2007 (MDT)

All that information should be in somewhere in the race's write-up. So when they mimic a race, are they stuck as that race for their entire existence, or can they change what race they mimic? What are the limitations on which races and types they can mimic? Humanoids, monstrous humanoids, giants, aberrations? —Sledged (talk) 11:33, 26 April 2007 (MDT)
They can change the race they mimic. They gain the physical bonuses of their chosen race (Strength, Dexterity, Constiution), although they take a -2 to str and con, as noted in racial traits. They retain the same int, wis, and cha regardless of their shape. They cannot gain any magical, spell like, or extraordinary abilities, and must mimic those with their own abilites. They can, however, gain abilities that their form give them (Wings=flight, extra jumping/running ability). I'll add that in Racial Traits. --Cypresslyshra 13:27, 28 April 2007 (MDT)
So it works like alternate form with two exceptions:
  • Instead of gaining the typical physical stats of the form, they gain the races physical stat mods on top of their own, and
  • They don't gain any special abilities of the new form, only the natural abilities.
Can they morph into any race? Humanoids, monstrous humanoids, giants, fey, aberrations, magical beasts, animals, dragons, plants, elementals, outsiders? —Sledged (talk) 17:10, 28 April 2007 (MDT)
Any one that they have seen. That's why their LA is so high--Cypresslyshra 17:51, 28 April 2007 (MDT)
That ability is a lot more powerful than you realize. This essentially means that they can take the shape of creatures like dream larvae, primal elementals, mithral golems, tarrasque, and prismatic dragons. —Sledged (talk) 22:27, 29 April 2007 (MDT)
That requires that they've seen the creature and lived. Also, they wouldn't gain any of the special abilites inherent in the creature.--Cypresslyshra 17:17, 30 April 2007 (MDT)
Who needs special abilities when you're getting bonuses to physical stats in the 30s and 40s? Even limiting it to creatures they've seen still leaves a lot of potential for abuse.
Are there any mental stat bonuses due to aging, and do they have to pay the XP costs for shaping reality (wish and limited wish)? —Sledged (talk) 09:59, 1 May 2007 (MDT)
No bonuses from aging. And no, and no, they don't need to pay XP costs. Although now that you mention it, maybe I should make the LA greater for older daemons.
And as for the shape shifting, yes, they may be powerful, but they're still subject the dispelling and warding, human or dragon. I really don't know what else I can do with it--Cypresslyshra 16:07, 1 May 2007 (MDT)
The ability could limit a daemon from assuming any creature with more HD than himself. Polymorph and shapechange have similar limitations. —Sledged (talk) 12:07, 4 May 2007 (MDT)
That would fit with their orignial stories. Sorry, Daemons are like Sheogi- made in story form first, then translated to dnd. I'll fix that--Cypresslyshra 20:12, 7 May 2007 (MDT)

Daemons as PC's

I would like to use a Daemon PC in a situation where the ECL measures to approximately 20. If you have no problems with that, let it be known.

It will be a special character, perhaps to become an NPC. In any case, give the heads-up on "yea" or "nay."--Guest 10:50, 8 January 2008 (GMT)

gollark: Where does the macro expander go?
gollark: I assume this will be the Macron CPU?
gollark: It seems like a great alternative to C, which I do not use.
gollark: It will copy the existing H.264/AAC things.
gollark: Reencoding is to be avoided if possible, due to quality loss apiids.
