Soul Warden

As a Soul Warden, you have plumbed the depths of your soul and found the ability to extend your soulmelds to others, for both their benefit and detriment.

Becoming a Soul Warden

A Soul Warden is the penultimate crafter of Chakra Binds, using them not only to fortify himself but also his allies. Some even have been known to impose their binds on their enemies to hinder and blind them. As high level binds are a requirement for entry to this class it is typically sought out only by soulborns and incarnates. Constitution is the primary attribute as besides being a requirement it also sets the DC of a Soul Warden's binds.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the soul warden prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: You gain no new proficiencies with weapons, armors, or shields.

Meldshaping: At each soul warden level you increase your meldshaper level, the number of soulmelds you can shape, the number of chakra binds you can create, and your essential pool as if you had gained a level in the meldshaping class to which you belonged prior to gaining the soul warden level. You do not, however, gain any other abilities of that class, such as new tiers of chakra binds. If you had more than one meldshaping class before becoming an ironsoul forgemaster, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining your essential pool, meldshaper level, and the number of soulmelds and chakra binds available. Values for meldshaping past level 20 are in the tables below.

Bind Other (Su): At 1st level you can craft any least soulmeld and chakra bind it to someone within 30 ft. Essentia invested yields only half of the benefits as it would if invested in yourself, rounded up. Soulmelds created in this fashion count against your total soulmelds for double and can be broken, but have a miss chance of 5%, a hardness of 5, and hit points of 10 for each point of essential invested in them, they can also be destroyed by an effect that unshapes a soulmeld. In the event that a soulmeld is physically destroyed you do not regain the invested essential for 24 hours and are fatigued for a number of rounds equal to the essential invested.
This ability increases at 4th, 7th, and 10th soul warden level as per above table.

Chakra Bind: At 2nd level you can bind your soulmelds to your soul chakra, granting you new powers based on the soulmeld. Binding a soulmeld to a chakra closes the body slot associated with that chakra (see Chakras , page 50), so that you cannot also benefi t from a magic item worn on the body slot associated with that chakra. The number of chakra binds that you can have active at any one time depends on your level.

Negative Incarnum (Su): At 5th level you’ve learned to force your soulmelds on others. As long as you are within the range of your bind other ability, you can attempt a ranged touch attack to form a negative soulmeld on an enemy. Using your essentia to dampen the natural abilities of others, your soulmelds function in the exact opposite manner they otherwise would, within the constraints of the bind other ability. There is no save to avoid the creation of the negative incarnum but a successful will saving throw (DC 10 + invested essential + Con modifier) halves the soulmelds effect, again and the soulmeld’s miss percentage, hardness, and hit points, there is no second throw on a failed save for 24 hours. If the target has spell resistance you must succeed on a caster level check (d20 + ½ meldshaper level + Con modifier). This ability is usable at will but you are limited to 1 active negative incarnum at 5th level, this increases to 2 at 8th, and 3 at 10.

Perfect Binding (Su): Upon reaching 10th level your essentia doubles in effectiveness. Your bind other and negative incarnum now function at normal power, and soulmelds you place on yourself multiply all variables by 2. Binds placed on others can now be cast and maintained as long as the target is on the same plane as the soul warden, assuming the target is well known to the soul warden. Twenty-four consecutive hours spent scrying someone qualifies them as being well known.
