Shinigami (D20 Modern Creature)

Ability Modifiers: +8 Wisdom, -4 Strength, -4 Charisma
Type/Subtype: Humanoid, Undead
Special Abilities:
Shinigami Eyes: Described above

  • Shinigami are gods of death, monsters who dwell in a netherworld of decay and rot, surrounded by the bones of the animals who once populated their land, and the putrid remains of those of them who allowed themselves to waste away. They are eternally bored senseless, spending their entire lives gambling for dust, trying (and failing) to kill each other with their Death Note's, and watching the hustle and bustle of the human world. Things get interesting when a shinigami (accidentally or intentionally) drops a Death Note into the human world. The shinigami is then either required to go and retrieve it (if they only had one) or has the liberty of visiting and watching the ensuing mayhem (if they had two or more to start with). In addition to possessing a Death Note (D20 Modern Equipment), a shinigami has a few other abilities.
  • Shinigami Eyes: The shinigami has the ability to see the true name and remaining lifespan of any person, regardless of whether or not they are in possession of a Death Note (this differs from the ability conferred by the Death Note; see Death Note (D20 Modern Equipment). This ability allows them to more easily use the Death Note, and provides a +5 bonus to the Concentration check required to call the face of the victim to the surface.
  • Death Note: This power is identical to the one conferred by the Death Note, but it has one significant difference. The remaining life span of the person killed by the Shinigami is added onto the shinigami's overall maximum age. Using a Death Note against a shinigami does not work, at all.
