Shadowling (5e Subclass)

Shadowling

The Shadowling is a rogue who prefers to stay in the dark, away from the light. He will strike out when you least expect him from the darkness behind you and by the time you turn around, he has melted away into the darkness. Rogues usually gain these abilities through the interference of an other worldly being from the plane of shadows.

Night Crawler

When you choose this subclass at 3rd level you can use your bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space, that you can see, within 60 feet. Both your current location and the destination must be in dim light, darkness, or are at least lightly obscured. You then have advantage on the first melee attack you make before the end of the turn. You may also bond 2 weapons to yourself, through a 1 hour long ritual per weapon. As a bonus action, you can summon the weapons from the shadows or dismiss it into them, and they are considered magical to overcome resistances. A weapon bonded to yourself in this manner also deals 1d6 psychic damage to a target on a hit and this damage increases by to 1d8 at 6th level, 1d10 at 9th level and finally 1d12 at 13th level

Stalker in the Shadows

At 9th level, any time you are hidden or unseen in an area of dim light or darkness, missing with a ranged weapon does not reveal your position. You may also hide from a target in an area of dim light or darkness even if you are only lightly obscured. Additionally, all creatures have disadvantage on perception checks to spot you in areas of dim light or darkness (even creatures that have dark-vision) as long as combat hasn't yet started.

One with the Shadows

At 13th level you gain the ability to turn your physical body into a misty shadow. As a bonus action once per short or long rest, you may enter your shadow form as long as you are in an area of dim light or darkness. You may stay in your shadow form for up to one minute or until you revert back to your physical form as a bonus action, and gain the following benefits while in your shadow form:

  • You have 50 feet of movement and any other movement speeds you previously had, such as climb or fly.
  • You cannot attack, carry or interact with objects, and are immune to all damage types except radiant and psychotic.
  • You can mold your body to fit through openings as small as one inch, and can pass through non-magical solid walls/surfaces freely. If you end your turn inside a solid surface your are immediately expelled to a random side.
  • You are magically prevented from entering any area that has bright light or sunlight.
  • You are always considered heavily obscured.

Dark Phantom

At 17th level, you gain the ability to become invisible as a bonus action whilst in shadow form until you make an attack and it now lasts 10 minutes. You do not need to rest before using this ability again, however you must wait 1 minute if not in combat, before using this ability again. Your speed also increases by 60 feet and you can now climb up vertical surfaces and stay on ceilings/horizontal surfaces.

gollark: <@!202992030685724675> Your base appears to contain more holes than is optimal.
gollark: Makes sense.
gollark: Just kind of bodgily parse it looking for variable declarations (locals, that is) and gsub them.
gollark: Good idea.
gollark: Maybe some sort of XOR-encoding for the text.
