Seeker of New Skies

Making a Seeker of New Skies

Notes: For first level skill points assume the higher mod that your Sky Demon "Seeker of New Skies" has, as it changes based on day or night. For a Sky Demon to use a Seeker of New Skies spells the Sky Demon must be in a Dark region (or night). The letter combination (Li) will be used to designate special abilities of the class that apply in Light regions (or day) and the letter combination (Da) will be used to designate special abilities that apply in Dark regions; no letter combination will be used if the special ability applies to both Dark and Light regions.

A Seeker of New Skies lacks the ability to heal itself, and as such does well in a group that contains a healer.

Abilities: Strength, Intelligence, and Constitution are the most important attributes.

Races: Sky Demons are the only documented race to have Seekers of New Skies among their ranks.

Alignment: Any Chaotic.

Starting Gold: 3d6×10 gp (105 gp).

Starting Age: Moderate

Table: The Seeker of New Skies

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Seeker of New Skies.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Seeker of New Skies is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).

Spells: A Seeker of New Skies casts arcane spells which are drawn primarily from the sorcerer/wizard spell list. He can cast any spell he knows without preparing it ahead of time, the way a wizard or a cleric must (see below). To learn or cast a spell, a Seeker of New Skies must have an Intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a Seeker of New Skies' spell is 10 + the spell level + the Seeker of New Skies' Intelligence modifier. Like other spellcasters, a Seeker of New Skies can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. His base daily spell allotment is given on Table: The Seeker of New Skies. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high Intelligence score. A Seeker of New Skies' selection of spells is extremely limited. A Seeker of New Skies begins play knowing four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of your choice. At each new Seeker of New Skies level, he gains one or more new spells, as indicated on Table: Seeker of New Skies Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a Seeker of New Skies knows is not affected by his Intelligence score; the numbers on Table: Seeker of New Skies Spells Known are fixed.) These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the Seeker of New Skies has gained some understanding of by study. The Seeker of New Skies can’t use this method of spell acquisition to learn spells at a faster rate, however. Upon reaching 4th level, and at every even-numbered Seeker of New Skies level after that (6th, 8th, and so on), a Seeker of New Skies can choose to learn a new spell in place of one he already knows. In effect, the Seeker of New Skies “loses” the old spell in exchange for the new one. The new spell’s level must be the same as that of the spell being exchanged, and it must be at least two levels lower than the highest-level Seeker of New Skies spell the Seeker of New Skies can cast. A Seeker of New Skies may swap only a single spell at any given level, and must choose whether or not to swap the spell at the same time that he gains new spells known for the level. Unlike a wizard or a cleric, a Seeker of New Skies need not prepare his spells in advance. He can cast any spell he knows at any time, assuming he has not yet used up his spells per day for that spell level. He does not have to decide ahead of time which spells he’ll cast.

gollark: Muahaha, preëmpted.
gollark: You have to replace / with //.
gollark: A more flexible approach would be to offer some sort of webhook-type API, actually.
gollark: The obvious solution is to have an option to submit a neural network to emulate the user.
gollark: Actually, Esobot should have a general command delay mechanism.
