Personality

Most sea rainids live in small tribes or villages in shallow saltwater seas. They tend to small pods of fish and sea mammals that they keep in a form of primitive aquaculture, and occasionally come ashore (for they can breathe air with ease and even walk with minimal difficulty). Though not warlike, they are fiercely proud of their honor and heritage, and will fight to defend it or, sometimes, to bring glory to their people. Sea-dwelling and coastal, they are known as excellent sailors, captains and pirates.

Physical Description

Sea rainids are about 3'-4' tall with skin that ranges from cyan to dark turquoise. They are small-bodied and long-limbed, and are very swift and dextrous.

Relations

Sea rainids are perceived as barbaric by non-rainids and are treated that way, outside of the nautical world. Among sailors and seamen, they are a proud and tough race of co-workers, often the hardest-working and most-dedicated of any crew.

Alignment

Most usually Chaotic Good.

Lands

Sea rainids live in a wide range of oceanic habitats, from tropical to arctic and antarctic seas. They do stick to shallow areas along the continental shelf, and are especially fond sheltered estuaries and fjords.

Language

There is a sea rainid tongue, and most sea rainids are proficient in rainid common.

Names

Sea rainids have three names, the first being a personal name that is only used by very close friends and family, the second being a family name, and the third being a "public name", which anyone can use and typically marks the individual's clan or tribe.
