SRD Talk:Improved Critical

Spelling/Grammar Mistake

There's a spelling mistake "critca"--Pwsnafu 21:44, 6 March 2007 (MST)

Thanks for bringing that up - It is now fixed. --Green Dragon 22:19, 6 March 2007 (MST)

After the bold topics there should be colons (:) or at least spaces between them and the next word.

Question

Can you take this with a ray, similar to weapon focus? Zau 03:09, 6 November 2008 (MST)

Rays can't do critical damage (unless your DM plays differently). If your DM says that rays can cause critical hits then you should be able to (I don't see why not) but I believe that they never critical. --Sabre070 03:58, 6 November 2008 (MST)
From the SRD:
If a ray spell deals damage, you can score a critical hit just as if it were a weapon. A ray spell threatens a critical hit on a natural roll of 20 and deals double damage on a successful critical hit.
Spell Descriptions > Aiming a Spell > Effect > Ray
I can't find anything that says you can choose IC with rays, but I'd allow it. —Sledged (talk) 07:04, 6 November 2008 (MST)
A ray is a weapon. I would allow it. --Dmilewski 16:41, 6 November 2008 (MST)
Oh, I didn't know that.. Hmm.. Cool. --Sabre070 03:49, 1 December 2008 (MST)
As stated in Complete Arcane, a Ray Spell is a critical hit on a natural 20 and has a multiplier of x2. Therefore, Improved Critical increases the threat to 19-20. --TK-Squared 03:52, 1 December 2008 (MST)
gollark: 2. take a bare-minimum Linux distribution and a CC emulator. Set it up to autologin to the CC emulator with potatOS preinstalled.
gollark: 1. use whatever LuaJIT uses to JIT-compile stuff - obviously a runtime is still needed
gollark: And the second one is not really in the spirit of the question.
gollark: The first one wouldn't work very well anyway.
gollark: I mean, there is a way, I suppose... two actually... but that's not the point.
