Pyro Fiend (5e Race)
Pyro Fiend
Flames surround you, blasting you with an intense heat. You turn around, and standing before you is a large devil of fire and lava, staring down at you as you cower in fear. It cocks its head to the side, a wide mischievous grin splaying across its face as the flames draw closer...
Physical Description
Infernal Akali by West Studio |
Descending from Pit Fiends, but with a hot twist, pyro fiends share some resemblance with the larger fiends. Standing a few heads taller than an average human, they are typically rather lithe creatures, appearing to be formed of magma, lava, and fire. This elemental aspect also applies to their hair and eyes, which appear to be flowing white-hot tongues of flame. Two horns of varying sizes and shapes protrude from the sides of their heads, flowing and twisting upwards in unique formations with a rough and rocky texture to their surface, with a similarly textured surface covering the Pyro Fiend's arms and legs.
History
Born from the blood of pit fiends and the hottest fires of Hell, Pyro Fiends are smaller, more fiery fiends that can be just as terrifying as their larger counterparts. Residing in the Infernal depths, they often would be next in line to pit fiends, acting as lieutenants. However, they would often venture and wander away from their post out of sheer curiosity and blood lust, much to their generals' frustration. Many pyro fiends have gone forth into the Material Plane, wishing to satisfy their cravings that the Infernal Planes simply could not. Others still have found and made homes in the Elemental Plane of Fire, finding the unruly chaos there to be much more to their liking.
Society
Because of their wandering nature, pyro fiends are typically solitary from others of their kind, but will often surround themselves with other races as a source of amusement. They take their duties as a Lieutenant lightly, being quite prone to leaving their army on a simple whim. This makes their relationship with greater demons a bit more tense, as them leaving could decide the outcome of a battle. Nonetheless, pyro fiends will almost always prefer to wander, being dubbed by other races as 'Infernal Nomads'. Occasionally, they will travel in pairs or even threes, although this is quite rare. But when they do, they enjoy toying with each other and dishing out the occasional fight, sometimes even leading to the death of one of their fellow pyro fiends.
