Perplexiam (3.5e Race)

Perplexiam

Personality

Perplexiam are, at their core, attention seekers. At some point in their long, and unnecessarily complicated, history they transcended the mundanely strange and ascended to a state of truly bizarre existence. Their purpose in most situations is simply to cause unease, confusion, disruption, and occasional insanity.

Physical Description

To say Perplexiam vary from one to another is to imply that space might actually be a little bit large, or that Primus has a subtle appreciation for order. They tend to have at least 7 useless limbs on their upper bodies, with an even larger number of redundant transportory limbs jammed haphazardly into(onto?) their waists. They will frequently maintain somewhat humanoid facial features, thought his is generally to facilitate the making of "silly" faces. They never stand taller than 5'8", or shorter than 3'9", and weigh between 111 and 289.3 pounds. The reason for this distinct size range is unknown, however, when questioned Perplexiam will usually divulge that the size limitations are bureaucratic in nature. Though it is true that Perplexiam are shape shifters in their earliest stage of life, they loose this ability at the age of 3 when their faces do in fact "get stuck like that."

Origin

According to Perplexiam legend, their species was brought into existence by a series of confused glances between outer deities. Though many scholars believe that the truth may be stranger than fiction. Decades of meticulous, and arguably pointless, research has indicated that the Perplexiam evolved from a clump of magic infused mold that grew on a sandwich left inside a bag of holding for over 80 years. It has been identified that the Moldy Sandwich had a bite taken out of it, though whether this happened before or after the suspended time in a pocket dimension is unknown. Perplexiam are not the only intelligent species thought to descend from this discarded food item. It is believed they share a common ancestor with the Transient Immortals.

Relations

Most races find Perplexiam incredibly confusing and strange. The Perplexiam are perfectly fine with this.

Alignment

Most frequently Chaotic, Lawful alignments are seen as taboo in Perplexiam culture.

Language

Perplexiam speak common, however they will frequently shout random noises and made up words at eachother whenever outsiders are within earshot. This practice has driven more than a small number of daring linguists to the brink of insanity..

Names

Perplexiam are fond of adopting titles and ranks that they do not infact have any qualification to hold. For example, any Perplexiam going by the title of "Lord" or "Bishop" is almost certainly not.
